What is something I can use to help treat a chemical burn on my face?

(0) Hearts

Last Sunday I used my Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner and for some reason this time and it completely burnt my skin off. I don't know what happened and I've used it before without this problem but I proably have third degree burns on my face. My skin is red and extremly sensitive everything I've even tried putting on it is burning like crazy but it is also very dry, flaky and tight like it might just split open. I have no idea what to put on it to help it heal or make it feel better but I've been without makeup all week at work and trying cold compresses and just gently rinsing it off everynight. Any suggesstions on what is safe to use on it in this state it's in??

I second the hydrocortisone. I inadvertently used benzoyl peroxide all over my face and had chemical burns on my eyelids. A light coat of hydrocortisone about 3 times a day really helped soothe and heal.

Ouch! I would honestly suggest going to a doctor. I had 3rd deg burn from boiling water when I was little (you can see the bone on my nose). Aside from the medicine, the doctor specifically told my parents to use pure sesame oil (no blend/preservatives etc). I don't know how easy it is to find pure sesame oil, but I suspect it should be ok if you hydrate with a pure oil like Marula oil or Tarte Maracuja or Argan oil (which is what I use when my skin is raw/irritated from environment/peels in the winter). I have also found my papercuts heal faster when I put rose salve over it (or any salve/balm that's all natural with very few ingredients). Aloe vera is good for sun/fire burns, tho I'm not sure if it's also good for chemical burns (I know sometimes when I really hurt my skin, even cucumber (supposedly soothing) burns).

Using oil/rose salve is kind of a first-aid measure and no substitue for seeing a doctor if it's really bad. Also, test it on a small area on your chin first before applying all over in case you are allergic or something.

That's terrible.  I would honestly go see a doctor because your skins sounds like its so raw that anything can make it worse.

I do have very sensitive skin, however, I get occassional get what feels like a mild chemical burn (I think because I try to many samples and change up my routine too much) so I've used Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Balm for my skin and it seems to work for me.  It's thick but the brand is great for certain skin concerns.

Hi Libee84 Oh no!  I would recommend having your doctor check it out.  You might try some Hydrocortisone cream to help soothe.
