Fading dark spots from post acne scars?

(0) Hearts

As if treating acne isn't an ordeal in it's own right, the presents it leaves behind are much worse.  It just screams, "I may not HAVE acne now, but it's clear that I HAD acne from the many scars decorating my face!"

I've tried Caudalie's Vinperfect Radiance Serum and while it does help brighten your complexion, it doesn't help with the spots.  The serum had lightened my whole face and now since it's late in the winter it has made my scars look more pronounced and noticeable whereas in the summer when my skintone was darker it seemed to be helping. I've tried doing spot treatment in the past, but no matter how precise I am with the application my skin always turns out looking uneven and blotchy.

I feel like I am stuck in the middle and can't find a solution to my problem.  Are there any darks spot treatment's that can really help and do what it promise without any crazy side-effects (i.e. darkening the spots even more, causing more breakouts, drying out the skin)?

i think using a whitening/brightening line may help. Shiseido White Lucent is pretty good. Another whitening/brightening line from Sephora is UV White line. In the US market, UV White is only available at Shiseido Chain Stores (shiseido boutiques usually). UV White line has been around for a long time and is very popular. Clarins Bright Plus is also a good line.

jadab,

Try the Clarisonic Mia! After one day, my dark spots had faded just a bit and a month later, many are almost gone! (and I badly burned my nose last summer, (first and last sunburn ev!) and the scar is almost completely gone!) I know it's quite pricey but I think it's worth it and if you don't like it you can always take advantage of Sephora's great return policy.

Good luck and I hope I helped! :smileyhappy:

I saw an artical in a magazine for scars. It cost $28.00.  So you still have it?

For spot treating I use Mario Badescu's whitening mask. You can use it up to three times a week, it's gentle but effective. To even out the entire face I use a retinol moisturizer three nights a week and Ren's glycolactic peel once a week. Also I never leave the house without SPF.

An excellent product to help eliminate scars (and not just mask them) is Kinerase "Scar Healing Therapy" which is a transparent gel treatment designed to reduce the appearance, discoloration, roughness and discomfort of both old and new scars.  You can find it at:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P242918&categoryId=B70

I hope this helps you.  :smileyhappy:
