I have a bit of T-zone acne due to peri-menopausal hormones. I have also noticed significant new wrinkles around my mouth and fine lines around my eyes. Every time I try to use something for the wrinkles it seems to cause a break-out. My acne treatments seem to work fine, but what can use for wrinkles that won't cause break-outs?
I have so many small bumps all over my face. I don't know if it's keratosis pilaris or milia or clogged pores I just really want to get rid of them. I've always suffered from acne, and I've come along way, it's just these **bleep** small bumps!
I usually only get a monthly hormonal break out on my chin. I bought the Mia a month ago and my skin has been purging ever since. I have been breaking out for 4 weeks straight. How long does this purge usually last? Is that what Im experiancing, or do I need to switch to a sensitive brush head, or stop using the Mia all together? I havent changed anything else in my routine, I'm using the same cleanser, the same moisturizer, same serum, same foundation, same everything. Please help.
I have severe combination skin: very dry in most areas, normal almost everywhere else, but with acne. It's also very sensitive. Is there any moisturizer (non-SPF as it irritates my skin) that will properly moisturize without clogging my pores or giving me more acne?
Has anyone had this problem? I started doing Insanity so I'm basically sweating 40+ mins almost every day. My skin type is combination leaning more on the dry side. I've never had a problem with acne before but I've noticed that I've been getting pimples or little bumps on my forehead. I know its caused by the sweat because if I dont work out for a couple days, then the acne does clear up a bit. I do try to wash my face immediately after working out and I'm considering switching to an acne cleanser but am afraid that it might be too harsh for my skin. Any tips or suggestions?
I have suffered from acne (particularly cystic acne) since I was a teenager, and I feel like I have finally resolved most of those issues, however, now I suffer from horrible skin texture. Rarely do I have acne surface my skin as white heads or blackheads, but instead my skin texture is full of extremely small bumps (like tiny pimples dwelling under the skin, mostly on my cheeks and chin), acne scarring, and hyper pigmentation. I know there are products for the scarring, but what do I do about the overall texture of my skin and these pesky little bumps?! In the light the skin on my cheeks and chin looks anything but smooth. It looks rough and bumpy like fine sandpaper because of all the small bumps. I am nearly convinced that these bumps just turn into more little scars, since I rarely get acne anymore but continue to have red scarring all over my face. Please help!!
Lately I've been hearing nothing but great reviews on the Clarisonic brushes and I have been thinking about purchasing one but the $149+ price has got me thinking twice about it. I would like to hear some of your opinions on the brushes and how well they do or don't work. I have veryyyy oily skin, rosacea and my nose is blackhead central. I also have large pores around my nose. I have tried a lot of products to get rid of my blackheads but none seem to work. I don't really have any acne its just blackheads that i get most of the time around and on my nose. So I am just wondering about how well the brushes work for getting rid blackheads and if the brushes help with making pores look smaller? Thanks!
I was wondering as to what you guys think are the best products for blackheads. I have a lot on my cheeks and nose and I want to get rid of them. So what do you think are products that are worth the money?
I'm african american, I have an oily t-zone and sensitive skin. I'm looking for a moisturizer that has SPF15 to 20, and is a oil control mattifier. I tend to look oily in the summer and would like to maintain that. I'm also looking for a good foundation for women of color, that has hues of yellow. I have golden hues in my skin, but most foundations for black women have red in the base, which tends to dull my complexion. Lastly, I'd like a recommendation for a good bronzer.
I get hormonal, cystic acne along my jawline. I don't want to take birth control forever, and I am looking for skincare products that will reduce/eliminate the cysts. Any ideas if the Murad line works for this? Thanks!
I have been struggling with acne scars for the past few years now. It seems like any time acne emerges on my face it ALWAYS leaves a mark once it goes away even though I dont pop it or anything I just let it run its course and go away and it is VERY frustrating as you could imagine. I have tried a few "dark spot" serums which have helped fade some scars slightly but not much of a difference. Also, they arent really dark spots they are a reddish/pink it makes it look like there is a pimple there still but there isnt. Its just a flat reddish/pink spot where the acne used to be. It makes it look like it is active acne when in fact it is not it is just the old place where it was before. These scars or "spots" are the only reason that I wear foundation and I wish I knew of a product that could get rid of them so I wouldnt have to continue wearing foundation a lot. Any suggestions? Also, The previous serum i used was the Dr. Brandt dark spot serum which again faded very slightly but not much. Looking for better results in a new producut!!
This might be kind of long. I was using Differin from derm and it stopped working so I started using a Salyclic acid cleanser from Biore and it's kept my skin mostly clear for the last 6 weeks. I also use a Clarisonic. Now I have three cystic pimples on my cheeks (I NEVER used to breakout on my cheeks), two on my chin and I came home today and found I have a new one on my forehead. I also have t ton on tiny under the skin bumps on my chin. What is going on?? My skin wasn't even this barowen I went to the derm the first time! Is there anything you would recommend? Mask, treatment, anything. My skin is also pretty oily. Thanks!
I really need some advice. I have quite a few whiteheads on my forehead and a few on my cheeks. I've tried a couple of drugstore creams and facial cleansers, but they either don't work or are much too harsh for my extremely allergy-prone skin. My skin is also extremely oily. I have tried a few facial washes, creams, and gels with salicyic acid, and they didn't seem to do much of anything. I followed the package directions and applied it 2-3 times a week for about a month. But there was no real change in my whiteheads. I was thinking of trying an acne cream with benzoil peroxide, but it says on the package not to use if you have very sensitive skin. Can someone please recommend a facial cleanser, cream, or gel that will help clear up my whiteheads? I don't want something super expensive. I've been thinking of maybe trying something from Clinique, but I don't know what. I was also wondering if a toner or astringent would help? I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do next. Any advice or recommendations would be very helpful. Thank you!
these are the ingedients in my facial cleanser and i am very acne prone and have sensitive skin. are they non comedogenic? Water, TEA-Lauryl Sulfate, PEG-50 Shea Butter, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Glycerin, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Chloride .
I am getting over a bad break out due to dreaded hormones I am assuming. I have it under control now, but I am still getting pimples mainly on my jawline and a little on my cheeks. Nothing too severe, but it's annoying. I only have a few active pimples right now, which are located on my jawline, and one little cyst on my chin. (Which THANK THE LORD is going away with just BP cream.) I still have a good amount of acne scars on my face. Mainly on my right cheek. There is this massive scar that was two angry zits together, and now it's just a glob of ugly, weird, purple/red scar that takes a while to conceal. Anyway, I was wondering if the Clarisonic was worth the money? Will it help my hormonal breakouts get under control when I have them, and also my just regular breakouts? Will it help my scars possibly fade faster? Another quick question to add to this: What's a good acne scar cream for my face that is under $50? Thanks!! xoxoxoxoxoxoox
Hi all! I was wondering if any of you might be willing to give me some advice on my skin care routine because I have been looking over some of the posts on here and so many of you seem so kind and knowledgeable. I am 27 years old, my esthetician says my skin is “slightly oily,” and I have been dealing with acne for the past 2 years. I get cystic acne on my chin and lower cheeks and sometimes the occasional small bump elsewhere. I have some blackheads on my nose, middle of my cheeks, and chin. My skin is quite fair so I have red post-acne marks left behind for many months once the acne is gone. I have eliminated most of my acne with the products I am using now and by having a salicylic acid peel at the dermatologist’s office every two weeks for the past couple of months. I don’t really like the products she offers because they have parabens. I used to use much more natural products; now I will use pretty much anything, but I really would like to still avoid parabens if possible. I currently use: NeoStrata Antibacterial Facial Cleanser 2x daily (I use my Clarisonic Plus at night) Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion on any active spots at night Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation at night Juice Beauty SPF 30 moisturizer during the day Origins Charcoal Mask about once a week Salicylic acid peel at derm’s office every two weeks Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, Tarte Amazonian Clay concealer, Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder, and Korres blush a few days a week. Even though things have been looking better, I feel like there has got to be another product or two that could rid my face of the rest of my active acne and post-acne red marks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am looking for an effective acne treatment for sensitive skin. My skin type is combination and the acne is just small under-the-skin bumps. Although my acne isn't too severe, I am looking for a a product to provide treatment and prevent future breakouts. I have already tried Dr. Brandt Blemishes No More and Dr. Brandt Pores No More, but they haven't met my expectations. Thanks!
Okay, so I'm on vacay in Long Island for the summer. I don't know if it's the area or if something is going on with my skin, but I've started breaking out more than usual. This is bad, because I have a problem. Everytime I get a pimple, I just HAVE to pop it (once it has a white surface). I also am obsessed with extracting dirt from my pores. I don't know if they're little blackheads or what, but I have to push those out too. The problem is that now that I have these acne scabs, my skin looks really dry in that particular area, and then it makes my foundation look cakey over it. The foundation kindof brings out the outline of the broken-out areas because they're so dry, even though I use the smashbox photo finish primer. Does popping the pimple make it stick around longer, or does it help it go away faster to just get rid of the white stuff? And does extracting the dirt from my pores increase the pore size?? I have been using some drying paste in a little blue tube by Clean and Clear, but it doesn't seem to help speed up the healing of my zits... it just dries up the skin around it. It seems like I keep getting zits in the same areas for some reason, and it creates an ugly red, irritated area. I didn't even break out this much when I was a teenager... Any product suggestions and/or advice on whether or not it's okay to pop all of my pimples? It's getting really bad and affecting my foundation. =[ (I prefer natural products, but any product suggestions will be appreciated and taken into consideration)
I'm dying to know if anyone has had a similar experience!! I used my Clarisonic Mia faithfully for 6 months. It seemed my face would get worse, then clear up, get worse, clear up.....and so on. I stopped using it in mid-March due to a nasty sunburn I got while in Florida, here we are, it's almost May and I haven't touched it once....my skin hasn't looked this good in a loooong time and of course I'm thrilled, but did I waste time and money on the Clarisonic?? I don't doubt the brush itself, the company or any of their products but my mind is boggled anyway! Toward the end of my Florida vacation, the sunburn healed and my face seemed clearer...so I kinda tested the whole situation and stopped using the brush, trying to see if there was a correlation. I'd love to hear some input on this, the Clarisonic is collecting dust..... Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Greetings all. I come before you with hope that someone will have a suggestion as to what over the counter treatment may work well for cystic acne? I have seen a dermatologist for this, and they prescribed Retin-A as treatment. However, it dried my skin out so bad that I had to discontinue after a month's use. To get that prescription was like pulling teeth from the dermatologist, because she flat out told me that I should just go on birth control and that will solve all of my cystic acne issues. However, at this point - birth control as a form of acne treatment is not an option due to the fact that my gynecologist wants me off of it as an experiment to see if I can rid myself of other female symptoms. Basically...to make a very long story short, I am at my wits end. I understand the fact that nothing is truly going to rid me of my cystic acne, but I would be so happy to find a product that would at least shrink the ones I have a little faster, that way they aren't as painful for so long. I spend most of my day on the phone, and nearly 10 times a day, I'm banging the receiver into my jaw and it hits a cyst and it makes me want to cry! As it stands now, I'm using Philosophy's Purity Made Simple, and their new On A Clear Day acne face wash. For moisturizer, I've been using Fresh's Umbrian Clay Oil Free moisturizer. As for spot treatment, I have PTR Acne Spot Treatment. However, I don't feel as though this combination is aiding in riding myself of my usual acne, nor aiding in the healing of my cystic acne. I'd be ever so happy for any suggestions ya'll might have! Thank you! - Jessica
I got a sample of Dr.Brandt anti aging lotion for mattifying purposes and ole henriksen new beginning exfoliator. I used the exfoliator twice and dr. brandt everyday since I got it. I really like the dr. brandt because its hydrating, not sure it actually mattifies or helps reduce the oil in my skin. The problem I have is that I broke out with 3 horrible pimples and 1 of them is a huge ingrown that hurts when i touch it. I'm wondering if it was the exfoliator cleaning out my pores or if it was the lotion and I should stop using it.
I hate acne products that bleach my pillow. I want to try this body spray before attending some summer weddings where I'll want a totally clear back, but it's not worth messing up all of my clothes and sheets.
