I recently went to an esthetician for a facial and I told her what I was using at home. She told me I was using too many products and it was actually more harmful for my face. Background about me : I have really oily skin. I have been using Pro Activ for a long time and have within the last month switched over to using Kate Sommerville. I have cystic acne usually around my chin ( possibly hormonal acne) My skin care regimen: am: Kate Sommerville Daily Cleanser ( I use with my carisonic) -pro Activ toner or Kate Sommerville toner -Kate Sommerville Acne clearing lotion - I spot treat acne spots with Murad Acne spot Fast Fix or Lush Grease Lightning - I moisturize with my Kate Sommerville moisturizer or Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel night: Kate Sommerville Daily Cleanser ( use clarisonic) -pro activ or Kate Sommerville toner -I spot treat with proactiv refining mask or Eradikate -everywhere else I use Dr. Dennis Gross Moisturizer usually every other day I use a different clay mask( glam glow or an over the counter mask) then use an enzyme mask right after every Friday I use my Kate Sommerville resurfacing pads every Mon I use Exfolikate I know it may seem too much but I don't know what to cut out. I feel like every product has a purpose. My face responds better to Benzoyl peroxide. I have tried many other products in the past that have not worked and were suggested by my dermatologist ex. Cetaphil, Murad etc. Ive only within the last month have incorporated the use of masks and chemical peels into my facial routine.
I bought naked basics 2, and just recently Becca neutrals looking for neutral eye color that works for me. naked 2 Basics isn't working well. I should get the becca in a few days. Should I invest in the Viseart? Just trying to find shades that go on smooth, creamy and with good color. Thanks!
HI! I have acne, not severe. It's been two-three years I have that, I went to see a dermatologist but that change anything. Do you know an effective treatment? acne free, product muraud or nonacne ? Thank's!
I have cystic acne and combination skin, with lots of acne scars. And I go through a lot of stress, so I get acne due to that as well. What is the best makeup to cover it up, and perhaps even help treat it? I would like something that lasts at least 8 hours and doesn't look or feel cakey. I have recently tried: Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye full coverage concealer Revlon Photoready foundation Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Elf Cover Everything Concealer and all avon products. If you could provide me with what you think is the best makeup for my skin, thank you.
UGH--so busy today and didn't get a chance to check out the sale section today There was a huge markdown on the Tarte cheek stain set and the MUFE set but it looks like its out of stock already! Still--lots of other goodies at great prices there! Lots off OCC and the some Smashbox LE items
So, I was talking to a friend about Tea Tree Oil and she said that Tea Tree is good for acne. So when she said that it made me think of the Tea Tree line at The Body Shop (in the green bottles). Have any of you tried any of that stuff? Which ones did you find most effective and which ones not so much? Any favorites? I'm maybe looking into trying it out, I find that Benzoyl Peroxide helps clear my acne best. I'm currently using Rodan and Fields Unblemish Line and it is working for me but I think it is drying out my skin because I used to be oily but now I have some dry patches still on my face after I put the moisturizer on. Thanks!!
I am just putting my haul together to post online and was just sitting and looking at it. Almost all of it is Algenist, two full boxes of it. Now I can truly say I have tried every product that they sell. I have not found one that I did not love. Am I the only one that's just CRAZY OVER THIS? I love the products and also love there packaging. I know some sY that packaging is not important but to me it is. Please share if you also have this addition to it. I will have my haul up in about an hour. Thanks in advance and happy shopping, Dan
I woke this morning with some really tiny pimples around my jawline, and my chin. I thought my face was just going into a bad period of breakout, but those areas are so itchy. My face never itches when I have breakouts. Is it allergy? What can I do about it?
I need new face wash or a full out new ritual because I still haven't found any type of skincare solution to actually use. I am in my early 20s and have had chronic acne for years. I have used many products in an attempt to help my chronic acne including: Murad, Josie Maran, Stridex, Neutrogena, and tea tree oil products from The Body Shop. Nothing is working and I'm getting very fed up. I have combination skin, but the only area I really get acne in is my cheeks, chin, and around my mouth. In these areas it tend to get very oily. In the photo I uploaded, you can kind of see what my current situation is. Does anyone have any recommendations? I tried to use the online Sephora Skincare i.d., but it recommended me a plethora of products and I don't even know where to start. I am also considering purchasing the Clarisonic Mia System. Any thoughts?
It's been a couple of months now and my face has cleared up! I have another problem-I am breaking out on my neck. Big ones too-whiteheads. I was using acne medication on them but it dried it out so much! They are still there and another one just appeared. Any suggestions on what to use for this? Thank you!!
Any Dior Diva's out there? Willing to share your Dior "stories"? Hello!! Earlier this summer, I had my first exposure to Dior products at my local Dillard's. I was interested in looking at just the Dior Addict lipsticks, but was informed by the woman at the counter that my makeup was just not working for me. Truly, she was polite and diplomatic. The prior statement is my summary. lol. So I let her remove my makeup and from scratch, apply full skin care and makeup. I explained to her that I would only consider a foundation that was full-coverage, because of my breakouts. She spent time talking to me about what I could do to help my skin, not just cover my problems. She told me about her husband, who had suffered from breakouts, and how, when she started working for Dior, she started a skin care routine on him, and how amazingly it worked for him. Long story short, I walked out with a laundry list of recommended products. I went back about a month later, during a Dillard's special event, and this same amazing woman walked through everything with me again, spending a good hour with me. She was so personable and I truly felt like she believed in the products and wanted to help me achieve the best skin possible. Fast forward and I'm faithfully using the following products, which are doing wonders for my skin, applied in this order: After washing my face: Step 1: At night: Gentle Toner In the morning: Purifying Toner (Oh - I'll use the Murad acne treatment to spot treat) Step 2: CT One Essential. I use this in the morning and at night. For the rest of the products that follow, I only use them in the morning. Step 3: CT Serum (Concentre Multi- Perfection). Should I also use this at night? Step 4: Moisturizer (NOT yet using Dior as I am finishing up other products) Step 5: CT Dreamskin (Soin Anti-Age Global Createur De Peau Parfaite) Step 6: Pore Minimizer (Skin Refining Matte Primer). I am not sure I see the value in this item as a primer.... So!! My questions for you all: Dior Diva program: A) Have you actually signed up for the Dior Diva program through Dior? If so, how do you submit your original Sephora receipts? The receipts that come in the shipping boxes do not provide $ amounts. I was thinking that I could add a copy of my online receipts, which do include prices. B) What gift items have you selected with your points? Any recommendations? Regrets? Skin Care: A) What kind of skin do you have? I have oily, breakout prone skin. And I'm 40 so I've got some aging starting. Blah! B) What products do you use? C) What order do you apply them? D) Do you have any recommendations or suggested changes to the what I am using/how I am using them? E) Did the line transform your skin? Makeup: A) Do any of you typically need fuller coverage foundation and if so, have you been successful with Dior's foundation? I have a brand new one I haven't opened because I have found, via using samples, that the coverage is just too light for my needs. I bought the Capture Totale Foundation and I happen to be color #31. B) Did use of the Dior concealer provide the coverage you need for skin issues? It's on my list of items from the Dior counter, but I haven't purchased it, yet. Thank you!! I know I "talk" a lot on my posts. 😛
I've been using Clinique acne solutions, and it's not doing what I want a skincare to do. I do get oily in my t-zone throughout the day, and deal with acne. My skin isn't smooth, and I have white bumps on my cheeks. Recently I've been struggling with dry patches on my forehead and nose. I would like to try new skin care ASAP, any suggestions? Thanks
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any good acne treatments that actually work. I have not been able to clear my skin from this crazy breakout in about 3 months and its driving me crazy! Currently I'm using ThomasPeterRoth face wash and Clinique spot treatment. Anybody recommend anything better?
Hello BT! I went to my dermatologist and she prescribed me with Tretinoin 0.025% for night time, and 5% BP topical gel with clindamycin lotion for the morning. She said that I have combination acne (red bumps, white heads and cysts). Also, she mentioned to use oil free, non comedogenic products and a gentle facial cleanser. I plan on continuing my use with Cetaphil gentle facial cleanser but was wondering if there were products that you could recommend me trying as a new moisturizer since my Olay is not oil free. Also, any other products that you could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
My 9 yr old daughter has signs of early acne and yesterday she woke up with a big pimple between her brows. She is quite tall for her age ( exact 5' @ 9yr) and no matter how much I tell her that being tall is good she is often unhappy that why she looks bigger than her friends and now she is upset that kids don't have pimples only bigger girls in school have them , then why is she having it. She is very confident ( not overconfident) and happy with her looks but doesn't want to look bigger than her friends. I myself never have acne at any stage and have a rare lone pimple once in many months, so I have no idea what will be good for her. She uses Bliss fabulous foaming wash and FAB ultra repair cream morning and evening. Can you tell me what treatment should I get for her which is not too harsh yet can help or do you suggest not to change her cleansing and moisturizing routine yet and give her skin a couple of yrs to adjust with hormonal changes on its own. Ah I am lost and totally don't know what to do.
I FINALLY found, THE moisturizer .!!! Dr. Dennis Gross, Oil free Hyaluronic Acid moisturizer. it gives me ALL i want: oil free (i'm oily on T Zone), super hydrating, hyaluronic acid (my fav), AND, SO SMOOTH!!!!! BUT, it's $70 for 50 ml and I'm almost half way thru in a week!? Due to dry, super dehydrated cheeks..... My qus is, I want similar effect but lower price? Is there a good choice out there, beauty folks???? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been having breakouts along my jawline for several months. I use a clarisonic with Purity one step facial cleanser with my clarisonic twice a day. What cleanser should I use to help clear this problem?
When I was in high school, after trying everything else, I started taking accutane for my breakouts. The acne was cured, although I continued to use mineral makeup and wash my face with Neutrogena's grapefruit acne scrub. I am now a sophmore in college, and I am starting to break out once again. Im not sure if it is due to stress or hormones (I recently stopped taking the pill due to some heart issues that are easily complicated by the pill). What treatments do you recommend to help clear acne? My skin is not oily nor is it dry. I have actually recently switched to Tarte's amazonian clay foundation and Cover FX's acne primer. In addition, I have used fake up concealer by Benefit. Do these products typically cause acne (especially the concealer?) I want the problem to go away, I dont want to continue to hide it.
I just bought the clarisonic winter set which comes with a bottle of boscia purifying cleansing gel. I used it yesterday, the cleansing gel is soooooo chemical and sooooo bad. Just wondering is that normal? I read the comments for that product and there are lots of compliments. Since I love my new clarisonic, I wouldn't return the set, which means that I have to keep the gel. I'm just afraid that the smell is because of the product is expired. Does anyone use that gel? It would be great if someone would let me know if that smell is normal. I don't want to use expired product and destroy my skin. thank you a lot
I have all these bumps on my face. I have oily skin and I don't know how to get rid of these bumps. I have had these for about 6 months now and I didn't change anything in my skin care routine. I've used a clarisonic for 5 years now so I don't know what's going on.
I am pregnant and my hairline has been breaking out because of all the hormones and I am wondering what kind of suggestions you guys have for me to help with it. I currently use the Origins ginzing line and glamglow thirstymud at night.
Hey beautifuls, I went to the dermatologist as few days ago, and I gave them my long-winded routine...two face washes, scrubs, and Clarisonic. They told me not to use the Clarisonic, or any other stimulater like it. Those moving face-brush-wash items are called acne stimulaters; they break the skin follicle, causing oil, and oil gets stuck in the pores...you know the deal. And if you don't believe me, believe this-University of Pennsylvania did a study on the Clarisonic and other stimulaters like it. One person did their usual face washing routine, and the other did the Clarisonic routine. These people were both acne prone and normal skin, and one ended up with big acne and the other with nothing. The acne-full contestant was the Clarisonic user. What do you guys think of this?
I'm in need of some suggestions for a nightly moisturizer to use along with a retinol product. Right now, I'm using Alpha Hydrox's foaming cleanser as well as the retinol "Resq" product. I usually let that all sink in for about an hour or so and then apply Tarte's Maracuja Oil, but I feel like the oil doesn't seem to really absorb into my skin. I just recently started the retinol for my occasional acne/acne scarring/uneven complexion, after trying both Atralin and Tazorac and determining that they were a little too harsh for my skin. My skin is still adjusting to the new retinol and I've been waking up with really uneven, red, blotchy skin. I need a moisturizer that is calming but won't break me out.
I've been having a dilema and my face have these elevations. They're not pimples and at times they're itchy. I put too pictures down there of me now --- one with the flash on the other without. At first I thought my pores were clogged but i wash my face twice a day and soap twice during each wash. I have a combo skin so patches are oily while others are dry and others are normal. My skin is very sensitive and reacts with intense itching and break outs because of that make up is a no-no in my everyday life. I'd just like to know if there's a product out there wo could help clear out my face. Even with no make up it could at least be clear and beautiful. Help from anyone is appreciated Oh! and the very last picture is one when my face reacts to my environment (make up or stress). thanks
Hi, Sorry if this is long, but I really need help with starting a whole new skin care routine and curing my acne. Please bear with me! I am a 19 year old college student who has absolutely no idea what she is doing when it comes to skin care. (Honestly, I will probably be posting a whole different post about makeup too.) My skin was doing well during the summer, but once I came back to start my sophomore year, my skin began to act against me. The place my skin likes to breakout the most seems to be in between my eyebrows and all over my forehead. Recently, I have also been getting two or three zits on my cheeks, around my mouth, and under my chin. Some of these zits have gone away, but they have left scars that honestly look like I still have a zit. I have been trying different products these past few months, but nothing seems to be working. About my skin: I have combination skin: Oily T-zone, and fairly normal skin on my cheeks. My main problems that I would like to fix : (from top priority to it would be a nice addition ) -The cluster of acne in between my brows and on my forehead. This acne is mainly just bright red dots; only a few are painful. Reducing redness would be great as well. -Getting rid of the red scars that have grown on my forehead and between the brows. -The others places I have been breaking out: chin and cheeks (mild) -Shine/oil control -Pore minimizing My current skin care routine: I wash my face both in the morning and at night: neutrogena facial soap bar, then Clinique toner (purple one), then Clinique yellow moisturizer. I exfoliate with St. Ives apricot scrub around 3 times a week. Sometimes I do masks but I have been slacking. I also use neutrogena eye makeup remover and burt's bees grapefruit face wipes. I am fairly active. My college requires a ton of walking every day, but I do not go to the gym or sweat a bunch. My diet is healthy with lots of fruits and veggies, but honestly it could probably be better. I also 100% make sure to drink 7-8 glasses of water a day. Really, I'm looking for a new skin care routine that will help solve my skin problems. I need a whole new cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mask, exfoilator, acne treatment, etc. I am open to ANY suggestions and feel free to load on the advice about better ways to take care of my poor face. Preferably, any products under $40 would be wonderful. If you really want to suggest a product that is high price but you believe it will help me, feel free! I can always save up. I like to use products that are fairly natural (but they don't necessarily have to be.) I need serious help because I feel so self-conscious about my face and it's a pure struggle to be in college with this problem. I seriously appreciate any sort of help. Details on how to go about the new routine would be awesome. I literally have no knowledge when it comes to this. If you need any other information, just ask! Thanks a bunch
