I have been using Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity for some time now, but it apparently is not going to be sold by Sephora anymore and there appears to be no where else to buy it. I really liked it because it cleared any acne scars and red marks I had on my face. Does anyone know of a similar product that you have tired and like? Thanks
I bought a Clarisonic Mia 2 about 2 months ago and use it 2-3 times a week in the shower. It works really well at making my skin smooth and soft but my acne is not getting any better and my pores still seem to be huge especially on my nose. I use Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser with it, and follow up with Sephora Acne Fighting Mattfying Moisturizer. The zits are large red cystic ones around my chin and jawline, and the Sephora Roll On Gel isn't helping. Am I somehow using it wrong? I do exactly what Clarisonic advises. Help? Oh and my skin is sensitive combo.
I have tried multiple high end foundation but continue to break out any time I wear them. I will wake up with my skin starting to clear up and as soon as I put makeup on I will breakout throughout the day. My mom has always warned me and said she had the same problem as well until her late 30's. I've tried Hourglass Immaculate Liquid to Powder foundation as well as Clinique Acne Solutions. I need something to either reduce or cover up all of the redness the acne has left behind.
I have been using Clarisonic Mia First for three weeks now and my face is full of cystic, pus-filled pimples and blackheads and whiteheads too! I don't go out of the house anymore because of this. I stayed home while my family was somewhere celebrating Thanksgiving because I am so ashamed of my face! I am 27yo and this is by far the worst breakout I ever had! I tried everything and switched to just honey and cinnamon as facial mask am/pm. But for removing makeup I use Chanel Cleansing Milk and the Exfoliating mousse to wash the excess makeup with my Clarisonic. I am just so ashamed and insecure I hide from every one I know even when I'm in the house and I would cry every night because of this. What can you suggest?..... Thank you..
So my boyfriend has acne that occasionally flares up and he hates it, he just doesn't know what to do about it. Sometimes his skin is perfectly clear, Then other times it's bad We were using african black soap to keep it at bay but his mom bought him a new kind and it hasn't been working that well. I'm going to pick some up of the kind that does work, but we're still looking for other things to help with the redness and everything else. He works out a lot and as a result, sweats a lot (more then most people but he's perfectly healthy). He washes his face daily and extra hard after jiu jitsu so he's a bit stumped on what else to do. I'm thinking his pores may be clogged but that's something I have no idea how to fix or what a good remedy would be. So any product suggestions would be well appreciated!
My skin broke out recently ish, a month or 2 ago. I'm really cyst prone, hereditary wise, and I'm going through a really stressful time in my life lately so the two sides of my chin have been breaking out. Apparently it's due to hormone imbalances/stress from what I've been reading online, which makes sense. I used the tea tree oil line from the Body Shop for a long time and it worked pretty well at keeping my skin under control, until now. For the first time in my life, I definitely have cystic acne. It's not TOO bad yet, but I'm really bothered by how much worse it could get. I recently bought the Clarisonic mia, and a ton of products from Lush, and then I also just ordered the Philosophy Purity and Clear Days Away. What would you recommend? I have normal to combination skin. My newest skincare routine is this: I wash my face every morning with the Lush 9 to 5 (I'll probably start using this or the Philosophy Purity for mornings since they're gentle), and then come home, take off my makeup, and use the Clarisonic (alternating between one of the gentle cleansers, and the Dr Murad Cleanser with salicylic acid). After cleaning my skin I use the Lush Tea Tree Water and Grease Lightning, and a light bit of Dream Cream for moisturizer.
So recently I've been using my Clarisonic with a normal brush head and my Philosophy Purity Made Simple facewash. My morning and night routine usually involves: -Wiping the makeup off of my face with a simple cleansing wipe. -Wetting my face and using my Clarisonic with the Philosophy facewash as directed. -Taking out the middle of the brush head and using more of the facewash to do deep clean around my nose, lip, and eyebrow area. -Using my Clean and Clear toner. -Applying a thick layer of my St. Ives Timeless Skin moisturizer. Though I do love my routine, I want to add some new products into it. I'm planning on sticking with the facewash and moisturizer that I have, but does anybody have any recommendations for a face mask, exfoliator, toner, or anything else? Please let me know! Also, has anybody else tried a different brush head on their Clarisonic? I have the Mia with a normal brush head, but I wanted to try both the acne brush head and the deep pore cleaning brush head.
Need a little help from ladies who use or have tried the PTR Max Complexion Pads. Tried them for the first time tonight, and have a bunch of questions now. After I used the first one, it stung a bit upon application, my face felt "tight" after, and I had facial flushing (mild) for about 30 minutes after. Not to mention the high alcohol content made my eyes burn! I put on some soothing/calming facial lotion after 30 minutes, and now my skin feels completely normal (but boy did it suck up lotion like it hasn't before). So my questions are- are these ok or expected side effects to get from using these pads? Will my skin get used to it? Secondly, will these work if I only use them every 2-3 days? The alcohol content I'm worried might dry my face out if I use these daily. I'm pretty sure I should have been conservative and purchased the mild version of this, but I absolutely hate returning things and want to see if I can't make this work until I can use it up.
I woke up this morning with a pimple by my nose and I just want to cry. I'm being mellow dramatic honestly but I do need some spot treatment suggestions because my birthday is coming up soon and this pimple will not be crashing it. I have combo skin and it's not sensitive so I'll take all suggestions from mild to industrial.
Hey guys! I have hormonal (cystic) acne and about two months ago I revived a deluxe sample of the Ole Henriksen truth serum. I started using it nightly, hoping it might brighten some old acne scars and suddenly noticed that my breakouts were significantly reduced. I have been experimenting with it (not using it for a week, then using it again etc) and it seems like the serum is treating my acne, but reading the description it doesn't seem to be intended to treat acne and I don't see why it would work so well. Has anyone else tried it and experienced acne reduction?
Hello all! Anyone else struggling with acne that's popping up because of finals and/or stress? How are you dealing with it? Any tips or tricks? This post is for anyone who suffers from stress acne and/or has ideas of how to combat it! Help!
I decided to go to a dermatologist after dealing with some hormonal acne. I was prescribed antibiotics Monodox (Doxycycline) and a topical cream Aczone. I had reviews and there were some good and some bad. If anyone has ever used any of these can you tell me your experience, I know the effects depend on the person. But I like to have some hope by reading good stuff. I am only on day 2 but I notice more bumps on my cheeks, so hopefully it's a purge stage.
I was wondering as to what you guys think are the best products for blackheads. I have a lot on my cheeks and nose and I want to get rid of them. So what do you think are products that are worth the money?
So I have medium/ beige but slightly rough and a teeeny bit oily skin. I'm pretty handy with almost every make tool but my problem is my face. It's pretty clear most the time but I tend to break out at least twice a month! I normally use a face soap every other day and i put toothpaste on super bad zits to help them go faster (it works!!) but I want to find a GOOD brand that'll smoothin out my rough skin AND help kill those breakout weeks!!! It seems like all the girls at my school have such smooth beauitful skin and I'm craving it too!! Help! Any Suggestions? Much Thanks! <3
I was reading about the connection between dairy and acne. Sounded like, especially for people with hormonal acne, eating dairy (some versions have higher levels of estrogen than others) can mess with our hormones and cause acne. Anyone feel like this applies to them and has cut out the dairy? I do not drink milk and I usually avoid cheese on sandwiches etc but lately my skin has been looking worse at other times of the month and I'm starting to think/it seems to correlate when I've upped my dairy intake (my latest snack obsession is pimento cheese and crackers). Sooo I'd be interested to hear BT's thoughts on this!
Hello. I wanted to write this post because I am a 28 year old female that has suffered from acne since being a pre-teen and it has been awful. My breakouts have been terrible, everywhere on my body, and I have tried EVERY product under the sun from drugstore, to high end brands, to prescription from the dermatologist, to the order by phone like proactiv and nothing, I mean nothing really worked until I started doing the below... I try to eat very clean (organic and natural), exercise, drink water, and not irritate my skin, but I still break out and I am terrible, I pick! Eeek. Then I started washing my face with only the gentlest of products to try and calm all the irritation I had been putting it through from trying to find that "magic" product so I used Cetaphil. I wash with it every morning and night and it did help my skin feel calm, not irritated, but its not going to clear the breakouts. So then I found this face mask and added it to my routine it has been changing my life and its all natural and healthy products, so simple to do. Every morning before I shower, in a bowl I mix: 1 tablespoon plain whole yogurt 1/2 tablespoon organic honey 1 packet of powdered asprin (called BC powder) I spread this mask on my face, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, and then wash away in the shower. The yogurt helps exfoliate, smooth the skin, clean out pores, and tighten pores. The honey is a natural antiseptic so it kills bacteria and it also helps reduce acne marks and fade acne scars. The asprin is an anti-inflammatory so it reduces those bumps that are there as well as the redness. My skin has had way less breakouts, its smoother, I don't need to wear as much make-up and this is an easy addition to my skin care that doesn't break the bank. I also started moisturizing my whole body when I get out of the shower with pure all natural cocoa butter. When you buy pure cocoa butter it is a solid and you have to melt it. I put the solid form in a microwavable container and before I shower, I pop it in the microwave for about 1:30, shower, and then put it on. My skin feels so smooth, its all natural so no chemicals, and it has been fading my acne marks, but best all, NO MORE BREAKOUTS ON MY CHEST, SHOULDERS, BACK AND THIGHS! I will not use any other moisturizer than this on my body from now on. The difference in the way my skin feels and looks is building my confidence and I am starting to feel beautiful on the outside as I am on the inside. The last product I am absolutely loving is Palmer's Eventone BB Cream. I have oily skin, not combo skin, straight oily skin, but I don't want to lather it with so much make-up because it just makes my acne problem worse. I'm embarrassed about my acne scars though so I need to put something on for a confidence boost. This BB cream can be layered and actually has ingredients in it that are designed to help your skin, correct tone, fade marks, and moisturize. It only comes in two shades, I bought both and mix to make my perfect shade, apply it, cover blemishes by mixing a bit of the BB cream with my concealer, and then set with IT Bye Bye Pores finishing powder and I am good for the day. Maybe these products will work for you, I am just so happy my skin is starting to look so much better and I hope if you try them, they'll work for you too. Amanda
So, after 15 years of fighting acne and throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it, I finally just asked the doctor for Retin-A. He said to be gentle with my skin cleaning routine, but I'm concerned about giving up my exfoliation routine, which is what seems to help the most right now. I've also never actually been on a gentle skin cleaning routine. Before, I was on the Murad acne set, with the antiaging cleaner switched in, and exfoliated twice a week with either the Freeman cucumber mask or the Bosica black mask. Now, I'm just using samples of non-acne/age fighting cleansers that have build up in the last year (mainly Clinique) and my Lancome 30 SPF moisturizer, without any exfoliation at all. It's only been a few days, so I haven't really had time to look into what I want to use yet. Has anyone else used Retin-A, and if so, what was your skin care regiment?
My skin use to hardly ever break out when I was a young teen but ever since I was 18 my skin just randomly started breaking out and I noticed I was right where I was using my bronzer and I was using a make up brush that my friend gave me and I'm not so sure now that she cleaned it. it also caused my skin to turn red and itchy and my mom thought it was my bronzes so she threw it away and later found out the same thing kept happening just when I would use that brush. But now ever since then my acne will NOT go away in the area where bronzer belongs and now I've started getting more into make up again I've been using nude skin care for cleanser toner and moisturizer and then I've gone threw a few primers recently I started with 2 different sephora ones not to sure of the name and I tried a bare minerals one and I've been using urban decays naked Foundation I've also been using Laura Mercier for my blush and one of they're eye shadows as my highlighter along with two faced bronzed and pourless as a bronzer. and now the breakouts are everywhere and they're big white and painful. How do I know if my skin is sensitive or allergic to what I'm using or if there's another entirely different problem help! Pictures gross I know but it gives y'all a better idea of what I'm dealing with.
I'm african american, I have an oily t-zone and sensitive skin. I'm looking for a moisturizer that has SPF15 to 20, and is a oil control mattifier. I tend to look oily in the summer and would like to maintain that. I'm also looking for a good foundation for women of color, that has hues of yellow. I have golden hues in my skin, but most foundations for black women have red in the base, which tends to dull my complexion. Lastly, I'd like a recommendation for a good bronzer.
I am in my mid-20s and almost always have breakouts. I have combination skin, so I have to use moisturizer everyday as well as oil blotting sheets. I've tried almost everything imaginable from dermatologist recommended medication (both topical and pills), to regimens like Proactiv and drugstore brands, and even Murad from Sephora but nothing has really helped. So I wanted to ask the community, what really works? Also, are the sold together regimens on here better or is it better to pick and choose between brands/products? Thanks so much!
I'm having a vert bad acne outbreak so I wanna change to a range of product that works for blemishes. Looking at 'Kate Somerville Blemish Banisher Kit' and 'Philosophy Clear Day Ahead 30-Day Trial Kit' now but could not decide which one to buy. Anybody used either of these products before? Please advise, thank you!
Hi. I bought my Clarisonic Mia 2 about 3 weeks ago. Before, I'd been a Proactiv user for about 2 years but it was becoming too expensive to keep up. Proactiv worked pretty well on my skin but I wanted to simplify my skincare routine. I have oily, acne prone skin. I bought the Mia 2 and used the Sensitive brush head for about a week before buying the Deep Pore brush head because I hadn't seen ANY visible results- good or bad. I don't have sensitive skin. I've now been using the Deep Pore brush head with the Purity by Philosophy cleanser for 2 weeks. My skin is awful, it hasn't been this bad since I was 13. My forehead is very bumpy as well as my cheeks. My chin hasn't suffered as much but I've been getting larger pimples on my chin. I use my Clarisonic morning and night, and afterwards I'll use Argan oil on my face to moisturize. Since using the Deep Pore brush my skin hasn't been getting oily at all during the day like it usually does, but now I've noticed my skin it dry and a little red on my forehead. I'm not sure if I'm going through the purging stage or I'm jut not using the right products for my skin. I was thinking I should maybe consider using a different moisturizer, a different facewash like Cetaphil, or maybe even switching brush heads? Please help!!
I get hormonal, cystic acne along my jawline. I don't want to take birth control forever, and I am looking for skincare products that will reduce/eliminate the cysts. Any ideas if the Murad line works for this? Thanks!
I have oily, acne prone skin, and purchased this. I didn't realize there was castor oil in this until I saw the ingredients on this Sephora site. (Bought from Dr. Brandt site) The reviews seem good, and say this doesn't cause breakouts. Anyone have experience with this product? http://www.sephora.com/dark-spots-no-more-serum-co ncentree-P374573?icid2=Dr._Brandt_Skincare_Editors ...
I have always had not-so good skin. It isn't horrible, but I always have a cluster of pimples on my chin...the ones that grow under the skin. Seems like they take months to go away. Any suggestions? I've tried every cleanser and treatment known to man. I also have sensitive skin & it dries over very quickly from products.
Hey guys! So let me start off by mentioning that I have acne prone skin and I also have oily to dry combination skin! I don't have terrible acne or anything, but I do have a lot acne scars! I am currently using Proactive and it's alright, I get a pimple or two every now and then. I would really appreciate it if anyone can suggest a new cleanser for me (or a new skin care routine) PS: I just recently got myself a Clarasonic! Idk if that really changes things but just putting it out there. Thanks a bunch!
