What should I use to clear up acne??? HELP!

I need help! I have battled acne for what seems like forever and tried it all.  I would really like to try something new and would like to try something from sephora, but everytime I go in there I don't know where to start. I am getting mostly whiteheads and blackheads with the occasional cystic acne that is really painful. I also have a lot of spots from leftover acne spots.  I am 26 and really would like to have better skin. Can anyone help me or recommend something that works??

Try from the inside out - either Dr Perricones Clear Skin vitamin collection, Dr Murads Pure Skin supplements and Dr. Brandt's water boosters.   Also, I would recommend Help Me from Philosophy or On a clear day from Philosophy as they contain retinal - Don't forget a really good SPF - I like the one from Korres natural and has an SPF of 30

I recommend Clinique's "Acne Solutions" line of products.  They make some great skincare products (I love their foaming cleanser) and I will list a few below:

You can get the three above items in a set together to try out (and save money by getting them in a set) called "Acne Solutions Clear Skin System Kit" and you can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P188308&categoryId=B70

Acne Solutions even makes a liquid foundation, concealer and other makeup products also.  The Acne Solutions products are gentle on sensitive skin, too.

I hope this helps you. :smileyhappy:

Peter Thomas Roth and DDF are both very effective skincare lines for acne. Get some sample from Sephora and see what works best. I have found that many acne fighting products are for mild or occasional breakouts, these lines as well as Mario Badescu work and if done in moderation will not dry you out.

I agree with someone that said to get a clarisonic if you can afford it.  It will really clean your face but if you can't then any beauty supply store sells face brushes and they are soft and it will also help to get your face clean.  I started with this for a year and it made a difference for me.  She is also right about the salicylic acid, it will help clean out the pore and exfoliate.

Also, something you could try right away to see if it will help.  Do an aspirin mask.  I swear by it.  Take uncoated aspirin and put a few drops of warm water with it and just mix in your hands until it melts and turns into powder then put on your face for 20 min then wash off.  If you have any large pimples just put some on those spots overnight and it will help clear it up 5 times faster.  I didn't believe it until I tried it.

Just make sure you are not allergic to aspirin.  It helps with the inflammation.  REALLY WORKS.

My suggestion would be to invest in a Clarisonic, especially since you mention blackheads and whiteheads.  You would not believe how helpful it is for those issues.  Also, products with glycolic and salicylic acid would be helpful as well.  I do think the cystic acne may require something stronger.  I have had that and it's tricky to deal with.  Good luck!

This may not be the kind of suggestion you wanted, but if you have persistent acne you have battled for a while, and nothing seems to work, save yourself the time, money and energy (and stress to your skin!) and see a dermatologist. S/he will be able to assess what's going on with your skin, and you can work to develop a regimen that works, such as a prescription (a retinoid, etc.) or perhaps an antibiotic if you have cystic acne issues. You can try a ton of different products, and you may find one that works, but for troublesome acne, it's better to leave treatment to a professional.
