What is your worst acne product ever?

Mine are the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Line and the Clean & Clear Morning Burst family. They made my face weird and shiny and I could hardly move it! Plus, they made me break out more. I was kind of disappointed because of all the hype that surrounded them, I thought they would be nice. Oh, well. At least they didn't cost too much. Now I realize that for my sensitive skin, natural products work best!

the original proactive however i am now on extra strength proactiv and it does work but i would recommend olay to keep it moisturized cause it will dry out your skin!!!!!!

I actually swear by the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Face Wash lol! My worst product, was Oxy Spot Treatment. Where I applied it to problem areas, it caused red, puffy, irritations and it spread all over my whole face! It was really bad and I had to go to school the next day! Thank goodness for foundation! Lol Some people who have used this may found it has worked for them because everyone's skin is different, but it just didn't work for mine   A good spot treatment is Origins Spot Treatment.

Clean & Clear when I was younger... I used the orange line (Morning Burst I think?) and ewww it made my face feel gross. Like too tight and still oily and shiny, and almost sticky. And it wasn't that I didn't rinse it or something, it just wasn't so great.

For skincare, St. Ive's apricot scrub. It made my face SUPER dry, broke me out on my forhead and all over my cheeks like crazy, as well as make little scratch marks on my face. Instead of wasting my money, I decided to try it out for my body; and it works.

Makeup wise, I didn't like the LA Colors Liquid Foundation. My goodness, I had bumps (soon to be pimples) all over my cheeks within an hour of applying it.

The Acnefree version of Proactive from Walmart.  Horrible, horrible product.  My acne wasn't even really bad.  Mainly the small bumps under my skin on my forehead and chin.  Acnefree didn't even help that.

To all those that said Proactive, props (hearts to you!)  because it definetly does not work. It is a rip off. The toner is so strong and literally dried out my face and made me so red, i thought it was burning my skin off. I have really sensitive skin so it was just not a good idea. I had really bad acne until I got prescription treatment for it and all is good now but I had my share of trying out products. i tried everything. Another bad product is Clean & Clear cleansing system. it may work for the person that has the odd pimple here and there but definetly not someone that has a full face of acne that needs more attention.

I will have to agree with most everyone here and say Proactive. Even only using it once a day dehydrated my skin and it was very, very flaky. I used to use the Neutrogena body wash with good results but then they changed the formula, including the scent and it did not work for me anymore - more breakouts.

I currently use Murad Acne system for my face and I LOVE IT! You have to experiment and find out what works for you. My skin feels amazing and it is not oily like it used to be. I use Phisoderm body wash for my back and then the Murad spray. I have not been this happy about my skin since.... well ever!

Ugh.  I agree with others PROACTIV!  I've suffered acne most of my life and I finally decided to try that to clear it up.  What a horrific mistake.  Within three days my face was so tight and dry that it HURT and started to crack and bleed around my lips and nose!

I went and bought a Clarisonic (that came with trials of Peter Thomas Roth and Dr Brandt cleansers) and I have never looked back.  My current favorite product ever is the Josie Maran Argan Oil Cleanser!  My face has never been smoother, brighter, clearer, or more luminous in my life!  The sales consultant told me my face is oily because the deep layers are dehydrated!  The argan oil penetrates and hydrates so my skin evens out!  LOVE IT!

I will tell you my best acne product ever......L'Occitane's Red Rice Cleanser and Toner. They are literally the best. The don't dry your skin out (which if your product is making you shiny and tight, its too drying for you), but instead it balances your skin out. Which when you have acne and oily skin, that is was you really need. I have been using it for over a year, and have only had a blemish here and there. And they are a natural company too

Im on the same boat with everyone who mentioned Proactive. I developed "severe acne" as a teen and got horrible cystic acne and my mom thought that proactive would work wonders for me... well it didn't, it did absolutely nothing for my skin. My skin just kept getting horrible. Another brand that I personally did not like AT ALL was Cliniques Acne Solutions kit... I know it works great for others, but for me it did nothing and it made my skin worse (in my opinion). 

I now use Kate Somerville's 9!! Kit and I have finally found my "holy grail" acne products, love Kate's line... they work wonders.

Proactiv Skincare System!  Step two which is the toner burned my skin so badly within 10 seconds of applying to my face I had to wash my face for about one minute! Then came a rash later.   The cleanser did nothing for my skin and the lotion was just as bad! 

It is a science behind how skincare products are marketed toward the customers.  For example do you notice that the colors they use are either green, pink, or orange(peach). Either the packaging or the product itself is one of these colors. There is a reason for this. Visually it is appealing and makes the customer respond to it in a positive way until you get it home and it is another story!

I know this is odd, but I never trust acne products from Target/Walmart/drug stores. They could come up with an aloe vera Neutrogena line and I'll pass on that. Anyway, to answer your question, I would say the Max Clarity products. They stung like hell. Not only is it the worst product ever, it's like the worst acne product featured in a commercial/ad. I will forever hate foam because of that acne kit. The only positive that came out of it is Max Clarity's great return policy.

My mom bought me a drugstore version of Proactive, Acnefree, my face was raw and red and broken out for days, ouch. Also, Biore's cleansers (too much perfume, irritating, uneffective), Skyn Iceland Anti-Blemish Gel (too gentle, expensive), Alba Deep Sea Mask (didn't absorb oil), and many others...sigh.

Hands down, Proactiv Solution. I wish I could have all that money back and invest it in products that I love and that I know WORK!

Oh and also, pure tea tree oil. I read somewhere that its a great spot treatment for pimples once but it broke me out like CRAZY.

ProActiv.  It caused my face to dry out so much, it burned.  I also ended up getting scarring from it.
