Hyper pigmentation??

Hey Skincare lovers!

I finally have my acne settled down, but I have a multitude of red marks left behind, my fear is that using brightening products will affect my freckles. I am someone who loves her freckles and tries to accentuate them. Is this true or just some crazy myth? Are there any effective products to help lighten these red spots?

@rorrikay I'm not a dermatologist but I frequently visit mine and ask her the same kind of question you have.

Basically what I can tell you is that the usual products used in this case - retinoids, vit C, latic acid, glycolic acid - should not affect your freckles. They will heal your skin, but it can take months for the results you expect. 

If you are in a hurry, there are laser options. If you have scars laser will be far more effective. Problem is laser will most likely fade your freckles too 😕

If by "brightening products" you are thinking of hydroquinone, I suggest you stay away from it. It may fade your freckles and is generally unsafe really. It tends to cause more problems than solve. There is, however, a safe version of it, called "alpha-arbutin". The moisturizer Tidal from Sunday Riley has the ingredient.
