What do you do when you are feeling sad?
Okay, this is kinda random but I was just wondering. Like what do others do when they have heard bad news, or having a bad day, or just are sad at the moment?   Do you go somewhere? Go for a drive? Want to be alone? Retail therapy?   For me, I gotta say it's defiantly retail therapy. It brings my mood up for a while. And sweets... nothing better than stuffing myself with candy or cookies. Haha.

PULL A WEED GROW A FLOWER
Hey Chicks,   I thought it would be fun for everyone if we did this post. I wanted everyone to think about something negative in their live that they gave up or over came no matter how hard it was and had a really good result because of it. I wanted each and everyone of us to have that "Woo Hoo" feeling knowing they had what it took to get them to the result that made them and their life better. Mine would be:   1. The  weed(being the negative) I pulled would be caffeine & the good (flower I grew) would be more radiant skin and no more jitters. 2.The weed(being the negative) would be cutting my hours at work. (Even though my job was not negative it was taking up too many hours when I wanted to spend that time with my family. The flower(good part) Getting to spend a lot more time with my family and only working 1 to 2 days a week now.

Acrylic advice
I'm getting my nails done for a wedding this weekend.  A month ago I had long, beautiful, natural nails that I cut off because they were starting to split at the ends, in the hopes they would grow back the same way, but alas, now they are just splitting and looking ugh.   I am definitely getting acrylics at a salon, so don't bother talking me out of that if you intend to.  I've only ever had them done once before, so I don't know what to ask for or what style is "in" right now.  I need to know the language to ask for the right thing!  Help please!  Thanks

Lemon Lime Nails
After applying my acrylics, I decided it was time for some nail art!  I was going to do Margarita nails, but my lime fimo pieces would blend too well in with the polish.  So I went with a Lemon Lime theme.     Each time I do acrylics, I learn at least one new thing.  This time, I really noticed how runny the ASP Aspire products are.  I read that another person on Instagram was having a similar issue.  No matter how lightly I dipped my brush into the liquid, the final product, after picking up my first bead, would be runny on my nail.  I'm  not sure if that is part of the ASP formula or what.  Also, the fimo pieces would work a lot better if encased in acrylic by using color acrylic powder and clear, but I'm not up to that step yet lol.     After the acrylic process, I used the following products: Beauty Secrets Base Coat China Glaze Entourage (yay for eBay!) StripeRite in Silver Glitter (this was going to be my margarita salt lol) Orly Quick Drying Top Coat Nail Glue and Lemon Fimo Pieces Cina Top Coat and Bonder   Now, let's see how long the lemon pieces last lol.

Q. What is the best face moisturizer for my flaky, yet oily skin?
My face is pretty dry right after I wash it in the morning.  I use the CVS brand of Cetaphil as my dermatologist suggested that when I told him how my face gets very red and splotchy.  Not long after I use that moisturizer/lotion, my skin becomes oily and flaky especially in between my eyebrows and on my forehead.   Can anyone suggest for me a decent priced product that I could use that would help moisturize my skin without causing flakes and oil?   Thanks! Finished Products and Hitting Pan
Hitting pan and finishing a product feels like a major makeup accomplishment, especially when it is something that has been neglected for a while.  So, I figured why not have a thread where we can share this accomplishment.  Perhaps we can all inspire one another, and probably discover a new product or two to replace the finished one lol.   I am about to run out of a few items.     My Buxum Lash mascara is getting low, and my Mega Plush mascara has maybe a couple of uses left.  I wore the Mega Plush a lot this summer.  The Neutrogena concealer feels like it is getting low, but I gotta give it some credit for being a drug store product.  I bought it during the Spring semester, so it has lasted quite a while.  TheBalm BalmShelter TM, which I bought last summer, is almost at the end of its days.        I've used my Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting a lot this summer as well, and that is what remains of it.  The nub is what remains of my Sephora Retractable Waterproof Lip Liner in Nude.  I need to replace it ASAP!!  Although no where near finished, I have made a small dent in my Buxom lip gloss in April that came in a 500 point perk.       Another item that I need to replace ASAP: Victoria's Secret Pro Lip Scrub and Balm.  It has helped my lips out a lot since I bought it sometime in February.

Recommendations for a summery punch lip color..?
I don't want something that's too hot pink or too red or too coral. To me, a good punch color should be a pretty blend of pink, red, and orange.. But I'm having a hard time finding that perfect color! Show me your favorite punch lipsticks, glosses, stains, and balms!!!   Addendum: Nothing shimmery or sparkly!

Looking for aluminum-free deodorant for my sensitive underarms..
I've never had a problem with drugstore deodorant, but I wanted to make the switch to aluminum-free. I first purchased Tom's of Maine Natural Long-Lasting Apricot Aluminum-Free Deodorant Stick. It smells like fruit loops and kept me odor-free. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a painful red rash under my arms. So I discontinued use and opted for Lavanila's Healthy Deodorant.. Same results.   Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions what I should try next? Like I said, I've never had any sensitivity issues before using drugstore deodorant with aluminum.. But I'd really like to steer away from that..

Q. Help for my Mom's sun and chemo aged skin...
Hello! My mother was recently down about how her face looks. She is in her 60s, grew up as a dairy farmer's daughter (in the sun..A LOT) and has gone through chemo on two seperate occasions. She now helps my grandmother when needed and does stuff for my dad, who has become disabled. Needless to say, I think her skin is a bit stressed. I think she's beautiful, but if this could help her make her feel better about things..   My sister is marrying toward the end of the year, and she really wants to look her best for photos. (She normally shys away from them).  I thought a weekly exfoliation, plus an intensive moistorizor for the skin would help with the base. But I don't know what products would be best for aged/chemo skin. Also any ideas on a good primer/foundation for her? She is pale/slightly tan (she tends to stay out of the sun these days).  As I stated, I am used to buying for me (30 years old), and am a bit clueless for the mature lady.  I got her to the Clinque counter once, but they suggested about a billion products to buy on the spot, so she was turned off. (And a bit fustrated). Thanks for your hellp!

For my daily look, I wear eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow on the lids of my eyes only.  Any time I have attempted to put something on my lower lashes line -liner, mascara - it just seems to either make my eyes look really small or I feel like it accentuates lines under my eyes.  Is there a way to apply something under my eyes for a more dramatic look with out the negative effects?

Starletta8's Summer of No Buy Support Thread
So, it's time to go on an extended no buy. I have more than I could ever enjoy for quite awhile.  However, if you have gotten to know me a bit- it's going to be easier said than done!   So, this thread is hopefully going to be a support group for me- and anyone else who wants to join me in a summer of no buy.   The tricky thing is that I've got about 40% of my toner left and maybe 20% of my daytime moisturizer- and I see pan on my HG concealer.  I have to buy the concealer since it's a staple product (and I have used up all of the other concealers that match my skin). I'd like to use up some skincare before repurchasing my daytime moisturizer- but if my skin reacts, I'll revisit the issue.   When will the no buy end?  I'm not sure, but fall collections will be on counters, if not on the leaves!

Swatch Requests
Something Arielaaaaaaaa said on my last swatch inspired this post. She posted "Thanks for the pic, i've been wanting to see swatches!!" (you're welcome btw)    I know a lot of times there have been products I want see swatched but can't seem to find them on the board. I really like beauty talk for trustworthy reviews and swatches so I came up with a little idea.  On this post you could send in requests for things you really want to be swatched. If people check in often we might be able to help a few people out. Sometimes I'm never really sure how interested people will be with the products I have so it might be a 50/50 shot of whether or not I take pictures. However if I know someone needs them I would gladly post.    So in the responses feel free to put what you would like to see, whether it be broad (magenta lipsticks for example) or a specific product (Smashbox Fuchsia Flash Lipstick)  You could also post what your willing to swatch, so it would almost be like a swatch trade off.    I don't know if this will work, but it could so let's just see what happens If you have a product someone requests and are willing to swatch I suppose you should post on the regular board and reply when you've put it up    ~We are all beautiful~

Fav beauty apps
I have a few beauty apps that I really like on my ipad, but I'm bored and looking a new one (or two).   My all time fav is called Popsugar.  It is a free app and its like a blog/online magazine.  There are different sections like fashion,beauty,celebrity,moms,etc... There are beauty tips and articles, and lots of new ideas for nails and makeup.  Very fun and user friendly. The other one I really like is called Beautylish.  This one if free also and has stories, tip and tricks, and lots of videos...there are other sections but I like those the most.  I also like the Sephora app, this is different than the passport app Sephora has, I have both.  The app that is different than passport has videos and a social section, plus the latest (and past) catalogues, and one of my favorite sections is the nail studio.  This is where I get a lot of my nail ideas, and its cool bc it tells exactly what brand and color polish is used and has pictures with steps and tools needed.   Anyone have an app they really like/love?...preferably related to beauty but doesnt necesarily have to be.  I could use ideas for other apps as well.

11 (Not "10") Things We All Need to Know...
There are 2 people that I've come to really respect their knowledge of skin care and makeup: Lisa Eldridge and Caroline Hirons.  Lisa is exceptional at knowing how to make makeup wear and look better, while Caroline is equally brilliant at understanding the skin and what ingredients it does and does not need--and she is blunt, straight-forward, and speaks from knowledge, not theory.   To follow are Caroline's "Things I Say Over and Over Again".  I know a lot of my questions have been answered by her blog--especially her "Cheat Sheets", so I'd thought I'd share with y'all in case it helps even just 1 person.  Enjoy!   1.  You are obsessed with your pores. They do not open and close like doors. You say they are HUGE - then send me a picture and I can SEE NOTHING.  We CANNOT see your pores. The only person that can see your pores close-up is your opthamologist - or your boyfriend. Your opthamologist is looking at your eyes. Not your pores. And if your boyfriend is thisclosetoyou and notices your pores? He's gay. Or not attracted to you. Or at best, rude. Rethink the entire relationship. 2.  You overuse the Clarisonic. A lot of you. A LOT of you. You can use it - you're just not meant to use it every time you brush your frigging teeth.  Step away from the trendy facial tool and wash your bloody face properly. 3.  Nothing good ever came from scrubbing your face with a peach kernel.  There's a reason they are 99p. Step away. 4.  In general, foaming is what you want Fairy Liquid to do. Not your cleanser. And to the brands: I am unapologetic. 5.  Freckles are cute. At any age. You will do damage to your skin trying to get rid of them. Leave them alone. Embrace them. 6.  Stress is the key to most flare-ups, whether they are acne, rosacea or eczema. Practise relaxation. And not in some hippy-dippy way. Seriously. See the bigger picture. Chill. 7.  Inflammation is the root of all evil. Eat less sugar, take more fish oil supplements. A lot of fish supplements. 8.  Natural doesn't mean you won't react. Essential oils are one of the biggest triggers for skin. 9.  'Dupes' belong in makeup and nail varnish. There is no 'dupe' for a high quality, years-of-research-behind-it skincare product. 10.  Spend your money on supplements, skincare, foundation and concealer and scrimp on the rest. You will look fabulous.     11.  If you would spend more on shoes, handbags, lipstick, jeans or fashion in general than you would on high quality skincare - you will be a sixty year old woman (and man) with a vintage wardrobe and a face like an alligator.

Desperate
Hey all. I have been dealing with acne for a long time. I've seen a derm before but last time I saw one they wanted me to do a daily antibiotic and that's not really an option for me. I would go see one now but it takes about 5 months to get in to see one in our area. I have been struggling lately with my acne. It ranges from cystic acne (main problem) to white heads to black heads and usually occurs on my chin. I know some of it is probably stress because I recently started going back to school. Last summer I switched to Neutogena's Natural collection and was having no problems then all the sudden it was cyst city. The only change I can remember around this time was I tried a BB cream instead of my foundation.   I switched back to my foundation and have been using Dermadoctor's Ain't Misbehavin' face wash and Origin's Active Charcoal Face Mask every few days. On my breakouts, I have been using Clinique's Acne Solutions Emergency Gel-Lotion Intensif Benzoyl Peroxide acne medication. It doesn't seem to be helping and may even be making things worse. I don't use a toner because I was told by my derm once that it can actually close pores and causes cysts. I also don't really use a moisturizer because I'm too worried something will break me out.   I'm kind of on my last line. It is starting to spread to my forehead and even some small spots on my cheeks. I'm just so frustrated. What do you guys recommend? I'm considering trying a sulfur spot treatment instead but am still looking for a moisturizer that will help keep things calm.

Issues with my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation...
I currently use Nars sheer glow foundation which I apply with a beauty blender. Before i apply however I moisturize my face and follow that by putting on a primer. My issue is that in certain areas like around my mouth, my chin area and other random places it looks like I have dry patches. Its not extreme but still it can be seen which is NO BUENO...do I maybe need a foundation that gives me more of a dewy finish? Or am i doing something wrong in my foundation routine?? Also not sure if anyone else is having this issue but after wearing the foundation for a couple hours my face starts to get shiny not oily but shiny is it just me? Bite Beauty Lip Layers Bold
Sooo I was Sephora shopping yesterday and while in line I picked up this little guy-- such an impulse buy, I'm bad, I know-- but I have used both colors and I love it so far. The colors are so beautifully pigmented and it feels really nice on your lips.  It is the Lip Layers duo in Bold by Bite Beauty --  http://www.sephora.com/lip-layers-P378654?skuId=14 95936 -- the colors it comes with are Vidal - a bright pink, and Pomegranate- in my mind a perfect red.    the product is quite small, but for $12 I think it is a good way to test out this brand. Pomegranate is on top and left, with Vidal being the pink on bottom and left.   ~We are all beautiful~

KP Duty Moisture Therapy
I have KP on the tops of my thighs. I think they're pretty bad too. So i finally made up my mind to get the Dermadoctor KP Duty Moisture Therapy. But for a 4 oz. bottle, it costs $30 something dollars! So i was thinking of getting the 1 oz. bottle because it's only $9 and i can try it out. But after reading the reviews (I just have to read the reviews before I buy!), people said to use it everyday for over 2 weeks. I doubt 1 oz. will be enough. Is it worth getting though? Are there any similar products that can reduce my KP for less $ here at Sephora?
