Nails Inc has a new line of nail polish called NailKale. I was attracted to the colors before I even read the pitch about its supposed benefits. Bless Alexa Chung - that new ad for this product made me laugh! If you haven't seen it, check out the photos posted on Sephora's Facebook page. Nails Inc made her lie on a bed of chopped kale. Like a salad. I wonder if she channeled Zoolander. Green Kale instead of Blue Steel The photos are gorgeous of course and Alexa made it work. Still it reminded me of comedian Jim Gaffigan's rant about the Kale Propaganda. I don't believe adding kale to nail polish will make any difference. However, I will still buy the nail polish because I like the colors. Have you ever done something like this?

Hello BT! Today is August 1st and that means another month of hauls! This month is the 2x/3x/4x the points for BI,VIB and ROUGE respectively. This is a great time to stock up on points lost throughout the year! Please share your purchases! Remember, a haul is a haul no matter how big or small!
So I was watching a youtube video of Vintageortacky and when I saw her Charlotte Tilbury blush, my jaw dropped. I had my eye on the YSL peachy one but .. this... just beats it, and can I say cute packaging? I wasn't going to jump on the CT bandwagon, but according to Cora this gives a nice natural peachy touch.. yep. This blush is called Ecstacy. And this one is the one Cora used called First Love.
Crazy perhaps. I ordered the Makeup Forever 30 Years, 30 Colors, 30 Artist palette this morning but now I'm having buyers remorse (I do NOT need it...and just spent a bunch on other items). But....MUFE is a brand I've rarely bought and it looks so lovely. Thoughts. Should I keep it or return it (unopened....I want someone else to get it if I don't). Any input is welcome!!!! Someone in a Facebook group posted this question, so now I'm curious to know how much YOUR face is worth! Add the price of everything you used! (You can add skincare if you want ) Today, my face is worth $139!
How about a little spin on "what are you wearing"? I'm putting myself out there right now with a not very flattering "before" and a much more forgiving "after." Come and join me in some transformation magic! Before: After: The Tools:
What are some products you regret NOT buying? For me, it's the Estee Lauder Heat Wave Illuminating Powder. I'm so mad because it's so pretty! I walked past it in stores so many times and now it's taunting me because a YouTuber mentioned it.
This hasn't been started yet so I'll give it a go. Today is the last day that SiJCP has an extra 25% off clearance so I stopped in to poke around before I start up the smoker for tonight. I grabbed all these goodies for $30.
First off let me tell you how sorry I am at the length of this post. I really can't sum up my predicament in a few short sentences because if I do, there might be additional questions from readers and so I just figured to be very lengthy in my wording. Okay, so I have annoying skin that reacts rather oddly with foundation. It's great and all, right up until I put on any kind of foundation/bb cream/etc. There are days, granted, that my bb cream will look dewy and beautiful on my skin, but more often than not, it looks like crap. I exfoliate every day, twice in fact; once at night with just a regular wash cloth, and once in the morning with a Clarisonic. I've read online not to exfoliate everyday, or heck, even twice, but I seriously have to. In addition to my extremely dry, flakey, patchy skin (which of course only shows up on foundation), I also have an oily t-zone (combination skin), as well as annoying sebaceous filaments (another reason why I have to exfoliate). At night, I use Philosophy Purity Cleanser, after which I use circle motions with a towel to exfoliate and use Ren ClearCalm 3 Replenishing Gel Cream in conjunction with Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster (I just received in the mail the Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment, so I'm going to use that tonight and see how I like it), and I wake up with nice, dewy, clear, fresh skin. In the morning, once I exfoliate and such with my Clarisonic with Philosophy Purity Cleaner, I apply Algenist Hydrating Essence Toner, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid, and Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream. After waiting about 40 minutes for that to sink in while I straighten my hair, I then put on a primer. Everything is just fine and dandy at this point; nice, soft, dewy skin. Then comes the foundation/bb cream/etc. part and everything just goes down hill from here. The only method I use that I can at least try to achieve "normal" looking skin with the face makeup is with my fingers, and that only works with a bb cream or a tinted moisturizer. Forget about foundation, that just looks cakey, streaky, and nasty as heck on my skin. Things start to look brighter, however, by the time I apply Laura Mercier's Translucent Powder with her Velour Puff in a patting application, only on my t-zone (oh and let me say, actually it's really only my t-zone that suffers through the heartache of looking absolutely horrendous, ESPECIALLY after like 2 hours of application). But like I said, that only works with a tinted moisturizer or bb cream. I can't wear regular foundation or mineral powder cause that just makes matters worse, not to mention I have very very very fair skin, which means even the lightest shade of makeup doesn't even come close, which is why I've had to go to a Korean brand of bb creams to match me. Pleasssseee help me. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Everything just looks so cakey. I have very good skin but it's so red and I just don't have enough self confidence to go completely bare faced. Helllllppp!
So I'm in healthcare. I worked in the office today instead of doing direct patient care. One of my sweet coworkers knows how I feel about makeup and brought me these goodies. She said she wasn't ever going to use them and I could have them. She also gave me a bunch of dry to combination skin moisturizers...the yellow one (no spf) but my skin is oily so I'm going to see if any family wants them. I don't think these samples are very old. I smelled a few and they seemed ok. I also got some makeup remover, one with oil in it and the other is clear blue. I haven't used any makeup from this brand, but I have the dramatically different moisturizer and I love it, but it doesn't have any SPF. I can't believe my luck today. How do Clinique's eyeshadows wear?
After trying a product once or twice I usually have it sorted into three fairly ridged categories: love, no, or meh. Once a product has entered the "no' opinion category it takes a lot for me to re-evaluate it. Recently, I've been trying to give things a better chance by playing with my primers. I always used to be of the opinion that if a product didn't work with the rest of my regular makeup routine, it wasn't for me. Most recently, I've changed my opinion of Marc Jacobs Kiss Pops. The first time I used them, after reapplying I would end up with balls of product on my lips and I gave most of mine away. Using a hydrating primer made that product leap from my "no" to "love' list. What products have surprised you once you gave them another chance?
We've all seen this on youtube, if you haven't.. go do so and have a laugh - maybe I'm always laughing and thinking to myself that it'd be fun to try this. Sometimes I say "there's no way they can mess up that bad, come on.." So I decided, why not make a thread about it? I want to see pictures, be it one or a ton, to show how good we can apply makeup without a mirror - it's hard! I used all products I use when I do the works, which is almost every day. A lot of people know my liquid liner skills.. I used it here.. but it didn't come out as great as I wanted! If you're interested in the lipstick shade, it's Shanghai Express by NARS. Sorry for the lighting, it's either this or suffer a heatstroke in my bathroom (it's hot in there).
My love for Sephora continues. I was sent a comped, brand new, full sized Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Medi-Spa Peel (launching 08-26-14) to review. I will use it for the first time tonight, so check back to this post if the product interests you.
I have Green Eye's and Light to Med. Skin w/ Neutral Undertones ( that I feel lean more cool, but I could be way off base ). Never owned any of these pallets or Dior shadows ( I have 2 pot UD shadows that I have played with a bit ). Can y'all please tell me what you think would be best? I am SO stuck. Thought a/b the new NARS shadow but never committed b/c I haven't heard anyone saying anything else about them but did notice 1 color (that I think would be nice, lol) is out. SO, here we go : OR OR OR. Want to make sure the lighter colors show well & I don't have to "cake" it on. I want a n easy/fast and pretty way to do a wash of color to eye's or doll them up just a bit. So, what do y'all suggest? Y'all are experts on all these pallets & I have no clue !Thanks in Advance!
Okay so some of you know I went out to Mexico. Reason was for a dentist appointment, everything was done yesterday and today i'm in pain (not excruciating, but I don't want to touch my face much still).. I went to MAC and Sephora for two reasons.. Russian Red and some eyeshadows. Both sephoras have the same eyeshadows for the new artist shadow MUFE so I just started looking at other stuff. I ended up buying 'The real steal' which comes with the benefit they're real mascara and the they're real push up liner. YES, I wanted to try it and I'm not paying extra money for the liner Anyway, I was headed back to where I had parked and a makeup beauty stand in the middle of the mall stopped me, mind you i kept saying no but they pulled me in with their hurried insistance? that even a word? I'm pretty sure the brush they used to appy their mineral foundation was dirty, but I was wearing my glasses so when I took them off reluctantly I couldn't really see. He was so rough when applying that know my cheek where I had work done hurts. I just told them thanks and I'll buy something tomorrow when I get paid. They even told me I should return my sephora stuff to buy theirs.. what? .. Anyway, the foundation he put was like two shades darker than my skin. What was he thinking? Geez. One thing is other kiosks trying to lure you in, but when it's makeup ones.. ugh.
I had my hair done colored in May and the stylist had to bleach it because I have black hair and its been previously processed. I usually just use Pantene pro v conditioner, then I switched to Aussie 3 minute moisture conditioner. Recently I bought Its a 10 conditioner to see if trying a higher brand would help. I am looking for more options to test out which will help get my hair smooth. Do you have any suggestions for conditioner for colored/damaged hair? My hair gets so knotty and tangly, especially when it is wet. I naturally have straight medium hair asian hair (not thick but not thin/fine either).
My sister asked me for help in finding her some new skin care products. Her biggest concerns are enlarged pores on her nose and cheeks, post-acne scarring on her chin, and wrinkle prevention. Her skin is oily and slightly blemish prone, and she is 26. She is currently using Clinique foaming face wash and gel lotion. I'd like to get her away from foaming products and mineral oil, but the catch is that she can't spend more than $25 ish per product and I don't have experience with stuff in that range. Any suggestions? I'm thinking it would be good to first switch the face wash out, then the lotion, then add in a toner and serum.
I have oily skin, but I am fond of the dewy glowing look! Not the oily shining look! I want to know exactly how I can create this look? I know I need to do strong oil control at skin care and base, so that I can use a dewy/glowy foundation. But I see on Korean girls, even before makeup their skin is SUPER glowing. How can I get that??? I was trying to attach a photo but somehow I can't I'll figure how to attach a photo. Pls advise me how oily skin can get glowing dewy skin without the oily shine!!!! thank you!!!!

So, I really want to try a really vibrant violet lip color. I looked in past threads to get ideas but the last post was about a year ago and, let's be real, a whole lot of new makeup products come out in a year. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions! I am not looking for anything dark or vampy. I am contemplating Too Faced Violet Melted Lipstick. If anyone has any other ideas I would really appreciate it!
Some campaigns from Charlotte Tillbury, Rodarte (Nars), Chanel and Dior (pics posted below) have featured pink/red/fuscia eyeshadows for their Fall campaigns. My question to all of you is, what are your makeup application tips for me to try that same trend and interpret for a casual day look? I may even want to wear that to work too. I don't want to look like I have a bruised eye or a puffy eye that has been crying all night. I"d like to be able to take my sunglasses off and look my friends in the eye at lunch and not get funny looks. Just for reference my complexion is pale with subtle yellow undertones but can pull more neutral at times. (3yo3, Chanel B10 or BR20 approx). Does anyone have shade recommendations? Application tips?? Thanks!
