it's my birthday today my boyfriend is cranky, my big kid is moody and i'm babysitting. i kind of want to bury myself in blankets and hide in my bed for the rest of the day lol. hey, i still get a free coffee from starbucks at least, right?
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. - I forgot to mention that The Bay will be hosting Beauty Gala's this coming week. You have to buy a ticket but out of the 10$ 2 goes to charity and 8 towards your purchase. Some counters give free stuff when you buy the ticket from them. You get your make-up done too at that counter I'm going and very excited about it! EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON
I'll be moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, and I spend 50% of my time there now. I HOPE to see a store there SOON! There are a few in the Phoenix area, but that is over a 2 hour drive away. Flagstaff is a college town, therefore there are a lot of 20-something year old girls. Flagstaff also has a lot of women who use natural products, free of sulfates and parabens (such as myself). I think that a Sephora store would do well there. I have shopped Sephora for about 10 years now. I would love to even work at a Sephora store in Flagstaff! ~Jenn
With the talk about LORAC possibly being discontinued, I am wondering what peoples' major go-to brands are and why? In order, and on the list due to no animal testing. 1. Urban Decay (obsession level) Love their liners and have every color I could want. Great lasting power and colors in liners and shadows. Revolution lipsticks are amazing. Razor Sharp finishing powder amazing, Have really come to trust the quality of the brand. 2. LORAC. Love the shadows and primer, have some lipsticks, blushes too and their luminizer is my HG. Great colors and quality, again I trust the brand. 3. Stila. I have a variety of Stila items. I know when I order something Stila I won't be disappointed. Shadows, liners, liquid liners. 4. Tarte. Love their company philosophy, and my collection of Tarte products is growing. I have a number of blushes and eyelash primers and mascaras. I am also liking Too Faced as well. Love to hear what you like and why!!
Hello, everyone! I am an Intermediate to Semi-Professional (more intermediate than professional) makeup user and I would like to know the makeup remover that works the best on sensitive skin without causing irritation. Please help! Thanks!
I rarely did nail art during the Fall semester. I definitely did not have any time for practicing with acrylic. I have missed both so much! It was so nice to sit down and play with acrylic and polish after working on some of my Winter class stuff. I still have a long ways to go with acrylic, but I didn't make too big of a mess lol. I still have a hard time with creating the rounded area built up at the stress point. Fitting for my index finger has always been awkward. It's just an awkward nail lol. I wish I could post my Instagram video of my hand with the untrimmed nail tips. "The Claw" went after the critters lol. I kept the nail art simple and festive. The green's formula isn't great for creating thin lines, but all that matters is that it's a Christmas green. I used: Zoya Nidhi (red on pinky) OPI An Affair in Red Square (red on middle) China Glaze Ruby Pumps (red on thumb) Zoya Ivanka (green) and two Sephora by OPI golds. I can't recall the names since they're mini bottles lol.
I was about to make a post and share with everyone but it sold out in seconds! I panicked at the price and just snagged one without thinking. $23 for a $700 dress??! What?!?!? As you can see, the dress is still being sold on Neiman Marcus for the full price. If anyone wants an invite to Rue, send me a PM. You cannot afford to miss these deals.
Just saw the reviews for this collection coming out on the 26th on Temptalia's blog. Anyone else excited for this? I think I'm really loving the blushes and skinfinishes! Pretty highlighters are easy catching the eye aren't they?
Something I've been wondering lately. How much trust do you put in beauty vloggers/youtubers? A lot of them have the products supplied to them for free. How much do you trust that they're giving an honest review based on their actual use and how much do you think is promotion because they got it for free? What made me think of this is Haute Look had the Whitening Lightening/Dial a Smile thing available again last week. So I started doing some research and googling. There were a few very well known beauty vloggers who raved about it and said it was so fab, so wonderful, works great, yada, yada, yada, but they got it for free. Upon doing some further searching I found a bunch of online posts about it being a scam product. I came across a youtuber FromBrainsToBeauty who slammed the product as terrible and doing nothing for her. She even claimed how disappointed she was in some of the more popular vloggers for saying it was so great and that their claims were what prompted her to buy it. I knew who she was referring to and it made me wonder about all that person's other recommendations. Were they all massive exaggerations as well because she'd received things for free? What do you gals think? Sorry for this being so TLDR.
Tons of ELF gift sets at Big Lots today. Super cheap to begin with and on top of that they were discounted. Good stocking stuffers for those that like ELF. The large sets at the bottom were $10 and on sale for $7.75.
Do not purchase anything from b2bitems on ebay! Some of the older members may remember, I posted a picture of my makeup case (Acrylic) that my husband bought me for an anniversary present. Well 4 months after it arrived, it cracked. I took pictures of the item and sent it to the seller and they told me to send it to them and they would replace the base (I took the drawers out and sent the base to them. I asked them if there was anything I needed to do (include an invoice, anything). they said just send the case. Well I contacted them a few days after I saw that it had arrived at their warehouse. They sent me a few pictures and said that USPS cracked it in 4 places and that USPS will have to reimburse me and then I can place another order for another case. and that I should have sent it in two boxes (like it had originally been shipped to me with bubble wrap) They never made that clear and I had even asked them what I needed to do. WTheck!! What scammers! I had asked them what they wanted me to do- they never said to package it in two boxes and wrap it in bubble wrap (I packed it in one box with bubble wrap). I should have known something was wrong from the beginning when they kept blaming me that the case broke and said I used cleaning products on it (which I absolutely did NOT do and I made that crystal clear to them). They just kept responding that I must have. Now they offer to send me back my completely smashed case. that's it. how do I know they didn't smash it in their warehouse? Lesson: DO NOT BUY FROM b2bitems on ebay If you are looking for a large acrylic case DO NOT buy from b2bitems. they are dishonest.
I know a few BTers were still looking for this palette, so hopefully it stays in stock long enough for everyone to get one! http://www.sephora.com/joy-to-the-girls-P383428?ic id2=carousel_HP_121913_ThrillWithPalettes_andValue ...
Hello ladies (and gents!) I'm in the market for a new foundation. I have been using Diorskin Nude, and I have no qualms with it, but I do think I could do better. I decided to go outside of the realm of Sephora purely for research purposes, and now I'm at a crossroads. Here are the two I'm interested in/curious about: Guerlain Parure de Lumière Armani Luminous Silk I'm very fair, and I'm looking for a light-medium coverage foundation that isn't too fluid and isn't liquid-to-powder (like HG Immaculate). I want it to do the job, so I don't want "invisible" foundation that just melts into my face without a trace, but I don't want it to be very heavy or cakey. If it smells nice, that's a plus! Feel free to recommend others as well. Sorry for the lengthy post (and my being so picky!) Any guidance would be much appreciated!
It may be a little bit early but I am already thinking about my resolutions for the New Year. Wondering if others are doing the same? Here are a few of my top resolutions: In 2013 I obtained a lot of makeup and learned application. For 2014, I want to work out and eat better so my insides are as beautiful as I try to make my face and hair. I am going to work a bit more on staying on budget. I can get lured in pretty quickly by sales and limited edition items. That will still be fine in 2014 but I will have an amount I have per month I can do that with. I want to "pay it forward" more, and just practice more random acts of kindness. I am surrounded by wonderful people in my life and I love my friends here on BT - I feel very lucky and want to share, even in small ways, with others. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!!
I love these pencils, but the funny thing is I only use them as shadows. They work really well and are easy to blend. I'm wondering if anyone has bought the UD Glide-On Eye Shadow Pencils and the Ocho Loco 2 Pencils. If so, was there a differences? That $20 an eyeshadow pencil will prevent me from buying them.
I bought the lip kit because it seemed like a deal. 8 lipsticks of .07 oz size each it said. The regular size is .14 oz, the decision was easy. But the more mini lipsticks I'm getting, the harder it is to believe each lipstick is .07 oz. I've compared it to the Kat Von D and Buxom minis and they seem like the same size as those two, yet they're only .04 oz. (Buxom looks taller but thinner). If you have these, can you compare and tell me if I'm crazy? Is the .07oz lipstick only, or does it include packaging? Maybe they meant .07 for each tube, which has two lipsticks in one.
i've always had problems with finding the right foundation and because i don't want to look like i'm trying to cover them up with something heavy, i go really light - it was okay when i was young, but in my thirties now and need more coverage. any ideas? also, i have very red hair but almost no color in my brows, which are really sparse and thin. i'm not sure what to do about it, tried a lot of things, shadow, pencil, both, shadow with wax, etc. not only is it never the right color, but just ends up looking obvious, like i have shadow around some light hairs or some big painted on brows. any ideas?
I just saw Frozen and it was great! I wish Sephora would sell palettes for Elsa and Anna! Elsa's song "Let it go" was probably the best song of the movie along with her building her awesome ice castle. I found the whole clip with the animation on Youtube and I keep replaying it. Also if you go to see it there's a clip after the credits of Marshmallow. The next Disney Princess movie looks like it will be Moana a Polynesian but it won't be out until 2018. The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey. The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology They did release a picture of concept art and I read it will be computer generated like Frozen and Tangled.
Hey everyone! I have SUPER oily skin and in desperate need of new cleansing and makeup system. Currently I use St. Ives apricot scrub and apply sephora acne-fighting mattifying moisturizer in the morning and at night. I then use sephora silicone free foundation primer. a tiny bit of concealer where i need it and then my makeup forever mat velvet + mattifying foundation with the beauty blender and finish it off with fx illuminating setting powder. usually about 2 after applying my makeup I can feel the oil building up on my skin and have to start blotting but then about 2 hours later I am doing the same thing over again. Even getting the blotting down to once a day is better than doing it every 2 hours. I have tried looking for new products but there are just so many out there I have no idea where to start. any suggestions would be wicked great thank you!!
I went to my local Sephora today and one of the girls told me that after the holidays all of the Lorac products will be on sale. They're not going to carry the line any longer I went home and checked online (with fingers crossed) to see if perhaps it would just be my local Sephora losing the line, unfortunately they barely have anything online! I'm so sad right now!! Why Sephora, why????
So earlier today I bought a new Clinique CC cream on the website because they were giving away 3 minis and I thought, what the heck, I can always use more CC cream! And I've been dying to try the Black Honey lipstick. BUT JUST NOW I noticed Lord and Taylor is doing a big GWP with a $30 purchase and I was like nooooooo I could have just bought it from them instead! So I filled up my little cart with about $45 worth of stuff and then went to check out and...THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $7.95 FOR SHIPPING. The outrage! The humanity! I could kind of justify spending $45 to get a bunch of stuff I don't really need but somehow when it came to $52.95 I found myself backing away. I think it was the paying for shipping that got me off the ledge - I just can't do it any more. Most companies have some sort of free shipping threshold and I always try to reach it, but Lord and Taylor's shipping costs actually increase with the MORE you spend. I ended up saying to myself, "I don't reallllllly need any of this stuff. Even if that free lipstick in the gwp is really nice looking. And the case is totes cute. But I don't need it!" At least not enough to pay $8 to ship. Unfortunately (or fortunately) there aren't any stores near me so I can't run down there and buy it either. Do you remember the last time you actually paid for shipping for cosmetics? Does it bother you the way it irrationally bugs me?
I was wondering if anyone else here does this? Tarte is constantly having 30% off and Stila has it's warehouse sales. Many offer free gifts on your birthday month, F&F, point rewards and free samples. I was surprised when Sephora added The Body Shop (even though it was brief) because they are always having 50% or BOGO online and in stores. I saw women picking up Body Shop products at Sephora stores and wanted to shake them and tell them to go across the street! Are there are any other product lines that have great deals on their websites?
I've been using Korres Wild Rose and Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Facial at night; along with Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturizing and Brightening Cream; Korres Milk Protiens Foaming Creme Cleanser and Korres Wild Rose Daily Brightening and Refining Cleanser. I have fair skin that is fairly sensitive; combination-more oily in the t-zone. Lately I've been breaking out like crazy - I'm 37 years old. I used to use products from Estee Lauder but they got to be so expensive. I am looking for suggestions for a wonderful cleanser and moisturizer, etc.
Ok so here I have the latest palettes I've gotten and I thought they all looked similar and maybe some of you might be trying to decide which one to get or compare the colors. The ones I have here are: Laura Mercier Naked 3 TooFaced Chocolate Bar Lorac Pro Here they are in natural light: and here I flipped the camera and added flash.... The two that looked the most alike are the Chocolate bar and the lorac pro (sorry I didnt mean to chop off the names of the lorac bottom shades) If you want swatches of some of the colors I will do some. These two are crazy close....
I wanted to start a discussion about VS return policy. I know they allow a max of 7 items to be returned within 90 days WITH receipt and they swipe your ID to keep track of it. I've worked at a giant retailer so I understand trying to keep track of returns without receipts because there are a lot of scammers out there. But why limit the amount of returns with a receipt? You are only going to get back what you paid... I sometimes buy things without trying them on because the line is long, or I change my mind later on, or I buy them as gifts but end up getting them a different gift. Even if you exchange an item, it counts as a return. I hate the limitation because I could potentially be stuck with this item if I've returned 7 items within the last 90 days already. I feel like if you have a receipt, they should allow you to return the item. I really like VS as a store, so I'm really torn with their policy. Sorry for this long rant. Has anyone else experienced this or is frustrated by their policy?
