I thought it would be fun for us to give shout outs to people who enabled us to buy products we ended up loving! Sadly, I'm sure I can't even remember all the ways I have been enabled on this board this year. Maybe these can be a few last minute gift ideas, ways to spend gifts cards you might receive during the holidays, or even a few ideas for your first purchases of 2014! I would also like to thank everyone for always keeping the board updated with sales and amazing GWPs! Those have been enabling too! And of course Missie772 and rikkie have been super enabling with their amazing perks and promos! Here are a few of mine: Marc Jacobs Lovemarc Lip Gel in Showstopper Enabled by garnett This really is a true red. Heh, I just lost 40-50 hearts in the last 20 min, so either someone suddenly decided that they REALLY don't like me, or some threads I got really passionate on got deleted. Which reminded me of something: - Can you please notify the original poster when a thread is closed or deleted? I know mods move threads around to appropriate sections, and recently have started to post a note about closed threads, but last time one of my thread was closed, it was done quietly and since I made the thread, I would like to be notified if it's closed. - Can we/the poster please have the option to edit the title of the thread? I'm not sure how easy/difficult this would be, but it would be very much appreciated if we can have this option. - Can we please please please have the subscription page somewhere obvious? It's almost impossible to find it. I subscribe to threads I'm interested in but it takes me ages to find the page where we manage our subscriptions. Perhaps put a little icon beside the PM on our side profile? or some link on our main profile page? And the font color / size / family still don't work . These options have been taunting me since the beginning of time. I would appreciate the option to make my posts pretty. Thanks!
So, I'm about to throw in the towel and accept the fact that there are only good men in television, books, and movies. Before I do, I want to throw it out there and see what you ladies have to say. Especially, if you have a good one. I'd love to read some inspirational stories of good husbands or boyfriends. I'm not feeling very optimistic right now and I know there have to be other ladies who feel the same.

We swatched Urban Decay's new Naked3(!!) palette to see how the colors looked on different skintones. What do you think?
Do you have a swatch of this palette? Post a pic in the thread below!

It may be a little bit early but I am already thinking about my resolutions for the New Year. Wondering if others are doing the same? Here are a few of my top resolutions: In 2013 I obtained a lot of makeup and learned application. For 2014, I want to work out and eat better so my insides are as beautiful as I try to make my face and hair. I am going to work a bit more on staying on budget. I can get lured in pretty quickly by sales and limited edition items. That will still be fine in 2014 but I will have an amount I have per month I can do that with. I want to "pay it forward" more, and just practice more random acts of kindness. I am surrounded by wonderful people in my life and I love my friends here on BT - I feel very lucky and want to share, even in small ways, with others. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!!
'Tis the season of engagements. That, plus kellsmuneoka's thread about Ridiculous Prices and IllegallyBlonde's Engagement Rings thread, made me start wondering about wedding dresses. If you're married, what was your dress like? If not, what is your dream dress? How much are you willing to spend? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Although I'm engaged, I haven't even started looking for a dress because we won't start planning the wedding until my fiance moves up here...but that should be happening soon! My research has now begun by watching marathons of Say Yes to the Dress lol. Anyway, rant and rave away!
Howdy ladies! After all the good deals this yr I've completely exhausted my spending and any reason to buy anything. I will be on a no buy until mid-Jan (if Jan really is skincare month then that means I've still got 15 days after that for whatever promo, no excuse!) My Christmas/New Year resolution is to spend just enough to qualify for VIB for the rest of the year , and I'm going to try fund most of it through Swagbucks/Bing Rewards/Ebates (PM me if you want to know more about those sites). With that said, this is a no buy thread for the first 30 days, a palate cleanser if you will, for next year. Anyone/everyone is welcome to join me. This is not meant to bash any particular products, but if you post then I'll give you reasons why you should delay the purchase, consider the alternative, or why you don't need it. I will keep all my disabling to this thread, so please, ladies, let's not turn this into an enable thread . =P Now then, will I succumb to exciting advertisements and fancy packaging? or will I hold onto my will power and succeed in actually saving some money?

Off topic.. But I can't do my paper, my job keeps calling me with questions and distracting me like crazy (I took off to do this final today and it's getting nowhere...ugh) Show me your pretty rings, or your dream rings This one is my dream ring: ....Yeah, I want to marry that ring.
I was swirling my powder brush in my Guerlain Meteorites and a lone ball jumped out of my tin and into the sink! OMG, nooooooooooo!!! So I picked up the little bugga, and put him on a kleenex to dry. I can't even think about putting him back in my tin with the clean balls. But I also can't bear to think about throwing him in the trash. He is a lone ranger sitting on the counter. He is white and sparkly btw.
My too faced chocolate bar palette arrived (like a half hour ago), and I just wanted to share my opinion for those considering it. Overall, I've seen some good reviews online, however there were some people that were kind of iffy on some of the shade formulations. I briefly swatched my palette and have to say I'm pretty impressed. Now remember I haven't actually worn it on my eyes yet though...but swatching, most of the shadows were really soft and buttery, definitely have great pigment. The only shadows that I think had a slightly drier texture were the ones with the micro glitter in them (candied violet, black forest truffle, and cherry cordial) . The metallic and mattes are excellent. The texture of the three micro glitters I mentioned is not a deal breaker for me, and most likely for my purposes those colors would be more of accent colors as opposed to the ones that carry the palette. One last note though is that you have to be a fan of browns for this to please you. Even swatching, I was having trouble discerning the differences of the shades unless I inspected closely....for example Hazelnut, Haute Chocolate, and Amaretto looked very similar to me at first. However when swatching them together I saw Amaretto has a slightly pinkish sheen to it and the other two are gold and bronze sheens. If you want a good collection of browns this is your set.
Thought I would try my hand at questions this time. Here goes... 1. Do you celebrate Christmas or some other gift-giving holiday this time of year? 2. Have you purchased anything from Sephora to give as a gift? If so, what? 3. Share one good thing that's brightened your day today (it's OK to say nothing if you've had a particularly crappy day). 4. What's your favorite mascara? 5. What is your ideal career? 6. Do you have any siblings (half siblings count)? If so, do you get along with them? 7. Share one of your favorite holiday traditions (if you have any). Here are mine: 1. I celebrate Christmas. 2. Not so far... 3. A text conversation I just had with my mother in walkie talkie lingo, where we addressed each other as "[work name] slave." 4. Right now I'm digging Sephora's Full Action mascara but I can be swayed. 5. Recording artist (preferably with my band) 6. I have a sister that I mostly get along with, even though she's my polar opposite in almost every sense. 7. One of my favorite things to do is go for a walk with my entire family on Christmas night to a particular street where everyone owns a huge house and the Christmas lights/displays/décor is insane. One house is so completely covered in lights it's dizzying to look at. Ok, enough of me. Let's hear about you!
YAY! May I present, another SUPER heart party for the thousanders who have contributed SO much here and haven't had their heart parties yet! Here's a fashionably late party for all you wonderful ladies. Congradulations to Titian06 for 1000+ hearts! I definitely remember seeing your helpful advice around but didn't realize you are not on my friends list yet but I'm adding you here now/anyways. Cheers for the first 1000 hearts! Congradulations to CrayzeeRN for 2000+ hearts! And for always bringing a little sprinkle of cheerfulness to all the posts you make. =D Congradulations to Drrragon for 3000+ hearts! And for the random chats about nerdy stuff. Always good to see a chic nerd around, and *high five* for becoming a fellow new meteorites owner. =P Congradulations to Nebel for 3000+ hearts! And for always being so cool/collected amidst heated discussions. Whenever I see your name I have an image of yoga and "Ommmm..." in my head despite the "exasperated" dog avatar. Congradulations to Dannyc for 4000+ hearts! My fellow skincare addict who started THE first traveling Sephora box on BT and started my mini-lipstick obsession by passing me the mini Bite rouge lippie. =O Cheers to many more helpful/fun posts to come! () () (^.^) ~Happy holidays! (v v)o
Hey Ladies, I just went into Nordstrom's yesterday and saw the most tacky and ugly pink sequined dress on the planet (in my opinion) and look at the price tag and it's $2,230. THAT'S RIDICULOUS IMO. I don't care who made it ,it was disgusting. Did anyone ever see a beauty product, clothing, etc where you had to hold back laughter and disgust because you could never imagine anyone buying it for that much if so, please tell me what it was and the price. xoxo, Kelly P.S I'm not trying to offend anyone who would buy something like that for that price, I just have a different style and budget.
So I finally gathered my favorites from the recent Holiday Haulin' and took a few snapshots! Anyone else want to share? Starting off with nails. Julep Mind your Mani set -- LOVE the Mighty nail & cuticle serum because it's so easy to apply and absorbs really quickly. Would definitely repurchase this one separately! Sephora X The System (chose Standout from the Neutrals line, love it!) Sephora + Pantone Elemental in Confetti Here's what Standout and Confetti look like: Made use of the UD offer with Melt, Sellout, Desperation, Naked . Seriously these are so high quality. But wish I'd gotten a midtone rather than Sellout. INGLOT!! wooo! woooo! So excited to see these instore at a Macy's! 330, 402, 326 Cargo in Tonga (yes, poshified's fingerprints are all over my holiday haulin' what can I say, she has good taste ) Awesome everyday color, perfect for just giving my face some definition after foundation. Tarte in Thankful, Hello Kitty Apple Balm in Cherry Blossom (I buy these up whenever I see them in sale bins...really a lovely gloss). What's in the tiny bag? MINIS! Auuugh! They are too cute! It's almost a full face in a teeny little makeup bag! (Yes I am obsessed with mini makeup) Bare Minerals READY eyeshadow and blush Marvelous Moxie mini lip IT Cosmetics mini Bye Bye Undereye concealer Bare Minerals mini Stroke of Light CARGO mini eyeliner Trish McEvoy makeup planner with lots of goodies Laura Mercier Custom Portfolio, also with lots of goodies A few fun LORAC items! Samples galore! Wooooooo who doesn't love deluxe samples!
Ok so here I have the latest palettes I've gotten and I thought they all looked similar and maybe some of you might be trying to decide which one to get or compare the colors. The ones I have here are: Laura Mercier Naked 3 TooFaced Chocolate Bar Lorac Pro Here they are in natural light: and here I flipped the camera and added flash.... The two that looked the most alike are the Chocolate bar and the lorac pro (sorry I didnt mean to chop off the names of the lorac bottom shades) If you want swatches of some of the colors I will do some. These two are crazy close....
Okay so I used to have decent eyebrows naturally, but one day I got overzealous with my tweezers and ruined them. My brows used to be twins but now they're like sisters (maybe cousins). For whatever reason I can't color match a product for my eyebrows to save my life (and neither can the SAs at Sephora)! I need a brow powder/brow gel/brow product match. Any suggestions?
After reading about the really lousy service offered by Benefit, I thought you might like to hear a good story. I ordered the LORAC Ravish Little Lace Palette when Hautelook had it on sale and was offering free shipping. It arrived today and two of the shadows were crushed. (I won't complain about Sephora boxes and the paper that they used. This was in a plastic mailing envelope with bubble wrap not around it tightly (and thus not around it when it arrived.) I called and the person I talked to immediately credited my credit card for the amount of the purchase (since it certainly cannot be replaced now) and gave me a $10 account credit for my trouble -- for an $8 item. In addition I don't need to worry about returning the item. (So, has anyone ever managed to reconstitute/salvage cracked shadow in a palette?) Of course I'd have rather had the item intact, but I am very glad to have the issue on a "no returns" item resolved so quickly.
Just saw the reviews for this collection coming out on the 26th on Temptalia's blog. Anyone else excited for this? I think I'm really loving the blushes and skinfinishes! Pretty highlighters are easy catching the eye aren't they?
I'm not sure if this is enabling or not? Just thought I'd mention that there is a FB group called Julep Swap where you can swap colors, buy and sell etc. Lots of girls there that make their own Indie colors and sell them too. *Disclaimer* It's not my group so I'm not promoting anything. Just thought I'd mention it.
Hello beauties and cuties! Pay close attention. Several people told me that Formula X Top Coat was a dupe for my beloved Dior Gel Coat. Being my thrifty self, I ordered a bottle of Formula X. It did not last from after dinner to nighty nite time! There is no substitute for Dior Gel Coat! Please make a note of it!
I have about 7 eyeshadow palettes, and since I want to give love to them all, I use one palette each week. The next week, I rotate it out for another one. I do this for a couple of reasons: First, it really makes me think about the colors and how to make different looks from one palette. Second, it gives me plenty of opportunity to try a palette before I say it's a failure (I'm lookin' at you Smashbox Heat Wave palette).
Look what I bought tonight The girl I talked to said something about next month being skin care month so we may be in for some kind of perk in relation to that, but I couldn't wait to grab this. I think its a GREAT value, personally. I'm hoping there will be more new favorites sets coming out soon.
Since we all had so much fun doing wedding themes I’ve decided to take the liberty in creating a board.
If you’re married, what was your wedding theme?
If you’re engaged what are you planning on doing for your wedding theme?
And if you’re still looking for the perfect significant other to go with your dream wedding theme what is it?
For me, I’ve always wanted something kind of whimsical. I LOVE the idea of renting out an old theatre for a classic old Hollywood-esque themed wedding or doing a carnival themed event haha.
For the old theatre theme I’d probably want to hang movie posters up featuring my SO and I. We could have a red carpet (don’t think I’d wanna do the whole cheesy paparazzi thing) though.
Most people look at me like I’m a nut when I tell them about that, but when I say ‘think Water for Elephants’ they quickly catch my drift.
For a carnival wedding I’d want fun foods like sliders, a French fry bar (with different dipping sauces like aioli, chipotle, etc), cotton candy martinis. I’d also want to hang upside down parasols around or do oversized paper lanterns.

I purchased the Benefit Advent Calendar through Sephora and as some of you know, I ended up receiving the wrong product on day 1 of the calendar (should've got a coralista blush and instead got the a-lister gloss). I spoke with a customer service representative from Sephora and they suggested I speak with Benefit since it was clearly an issue during the processing phase at Benefit. For the record, Sephora offered me a refund but since they were sold out of the calendars that was my only option and I really did want to keep the calendar. So I contacted Benefit. They immediately tried to pass the buck off to Sephora and say that it was their problem. So off I go again talking to Sephora. The customer service representative from Sephora was wonderful! She contacted Benefit on my behalf and offered them proof of purchase for me in hopes that they would be able to assist me. Back to Benefit once again, I spoke directly with a manager. I told him that I didn't want money, or a brand new calendar, or to make out like a bandit. I just wanted the coralista blush sample that they manufacture and that I should've got in my set to begin with.I had already e-mailed them a picture of my missing item and the item I got in it's place (on the day I should've got the a-lister gloss, the door was empty). I then gave the manager my order number from Sephora (to again, prove I purchased this legitimately) and I mentioned the Sephora representative who contacted them on my behalf. Again, Benefit claimed there was nothing that they can do. I told him that they obviously don't stand behind their product as there was a mistake on their end and they weren't even willing to make it right (I even offered to pay shipping for them to send me the itty-bitty blush)! So because they were unwilling to remedy this situation and wanted to hold on to a blush that cost them a miniscule amount to make, they will lose out on much more since I will no longer be a Benefit shopper. Sorry for the long rant, but bad customer service is something I can't stand and think people should know about.
