Lately I have been going over my purchases and I noticed a tiny trend - I am obsessed with some things more than others. So what are your 5 things/products that you are obsessed with lately (it could be anything - from food to clothing to makeup, etc)? Mine are: - Skin care (Algenist, face masks, and serums) - Purses (bought 4 purses in one year, and continuing to look .. smh) - Starbucks (holiday drinks) - NARS creamy concealer - Bite Beauty
So, one of the things I like best about BT is our capacity for kindness and positivity. I know that whenever I have a question someone is going to take time out of their busy day to answer it and that is great. I thought maybe it would be nice to start a thread where people post appreciations for other. Like if someone recommended a product that became an HG product for you or if a thread made you smile you could post here to appreciate them. I think it would be a great way to celebrate our community. One note: I know that sometimes things like this feel like popularity contests, and if people are anxious about that happening here I will definitely take the thread down because that is not my intention at all. If this becomes a popularity drama festival it will not stay up. But back to positive! I vow to post once a day about something someone did that I appreciate and I challenge everyone to participate at least once. Appreciating people feels good! I'm gonna post my first appreciations as a comment rather than in this post. Yay appreciating people!

Day 1 Photo Determination of when the online sales will go live: - This is still a great mystery. 12 am EST according to someone who made a mental note of it last year but so far, no official word for this year. Would love for a mod to help us out on this one. Determination of store hours for Black Friday: -From what I've gathered, and folks, please chime in - Black Friday hours are location specific and dependent on a number of factors. If your free-standing Sephora is inside a mall, they will likely match the opening hours for that mall. At my local mall, stores opened at midnight, and so then, did Sephora. At my SIJCP, hours were based on when Penny's opened. For Sephora's that are not in a mall, or Penny's, they will like go with whatever time that "plaza" is going to open. I called my two favorite Sephora's in Arizona. I don't live there, but when I'm there, they are the ones I go to. The one on 15169 N Scottsdale Rd is going to open at 8 am. The one in Fashion Square mall is going to open at 6 am. But here is the BEST news. For the free standing Sephora's, it looks like Black Friday hours are posted for most stores, on the locations page of sephora.com. For fun, I pulled up the stores with a 90210 zip code:
The Lime Crime thread got me thinking, I don't know a whole lot about the companies I buy from, beyond what I can dig up on my own while reading reviews or looking for swatches. What other companies (let's keep them beauty related only, or we'll be here all year) would you never buy from, and why? Are there any you refused to try for a long time but have since changed your mind on? Mine are: 1. Lime Crime (totes obvs, right) 2. Sigma -- I genuinely don't care whether they have a good product or not, but if I hear one more YTer say "I'm using Sigma #XX, I'll link it below" I will smack someone. I feel like they have over-saturated the online beauty community with affiliates and hidden sponsorships to the point that I just have no desire whatsoever to try anything from them. Ever. 3. Kat Von D - just don't like her, so I'm not giving her my money. 4. CoastalScents - sort of the same as Sigma, but I did buy several glosses from them a few years ago and the colors and quality were just way sub-par, even if they weren't expensive. 5. Savina - I bought two polishes from a Nordstrom Rack to try out and they were SO AWFUL that I vowed never to buy another one, not even if it looked gorgeous. 6. Enkore - same thing, bought a few eyeshadows and they were so awful I'll never buy anything from him again. I think he even quit producing eyeshadows, so I clearly wasn't alone in my dislike for them. 7. Any and all celebrity-backed perfumes. I think I have one bottle of J.Lo's Glow from back in the day (and it does smell lovely), but again it's that over saturation of the market that turns me off. I feel like I see Britney Spears/Jessica Simpson/Justin Bieber/One Direction fragrances in every single drugstore or discount store I go to. One I Changed My Mind On: Glamglow! When their stuff first came out, it was SO EXPENSIVE and had so much hype that I was immediately skeptical. I think I tried one foil of the black mask and the flakes inside of it annoyed me to the point of dismissing the brand entirely. When the SeasonSet sample bag arrived, I pulled the Thirstymud sample out and it popped on me! The crimped end of it had blown apart and it was all over my hands.. and it smelled so good.. so I figured, better to smear it on my face and see what was up, rather than wash it down the drain. I'm glad I did; my skin was suuuuuuper soft, like crazy soft, when I washed it off. It also stayed really soft even after I washed with cleanser, and I felt like it was still pretty soft in the morning. I've got a trip coming up to cooler temperatures in the desert soon so I found another foil sample of it in my sample stash and ordered the kit before the VIBR sale ended, to have some on hand. ETA: I hope no one takes offense to any of this stuff, it's just makeup. I'm positive there will be someone out there who dislikes a brand I like, so no hurt feelings.
Sephora is dedicated to providing an exciting and reliable shopping experience and we sincerely apologize to our loyal clients who were impacted by the website outage that occurred yesterday.
Our website is incredibly robust and designed to withstand a tremendous amount of volume. What caused the disruption yesterday was a high level of bulk buys and automated accounts for reselling purposes from North America and multiple countries outside the US. The technical difficulties that impacted the site are actively being addressed and our desktop US website is now functioning normally. We are actively working to restore our Canadian, mobile website, and international shipping where applicable. There has been no impact on the security and privacy of our clients' data.
The reality is that in taking steps to restore website functionality, some of our loyal North American and international clients got temporarily blocked. We understand how frustrating it is and are deeply sorry for the disruption to your shopping experience.
However, in some instances we have, indeed, de-activated accounts due to reselling -- a pervasive issue throughout the industry and the world. As part of our ongoing commitment to protecting our clients and our brands, we have identified certain entities who take advantage of promotional opportunities to purchase products in large volume on our website and re-sell them through other channels. After careful consideration, we have deactivated these accounts in order to optimize product availability for the majority of our clients, as well as ensure that consumers are not subject to increased prices or products that are not being handled or stored properly.
We have established a VIB hotline to ensure that if we are able to verify that your account was erroneously deactivated, it is reactivated immediately. Please call 877-VIB-ONLY (1-877-842-6659)
If you experience any difficulties placing your order please contact us at 1-877-SEPHORA (1-877-737-4672) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Our VIB 20% off promotion runs through Monday, November 10 th and our VIB and VIB Rouge clients have several days left to take advantage of this exclusive holiday shopping event.
UPDATE: Functionality has been restored to Sephora.ca and we can now accept Canadian orders.
with all the limited edition items that are released and the shark frenzies that follow, I'm interested in seeing what items my fellow BTers have snagged over the years that are now those coveted hard to find unicorns. Those beautiful things we wanted but missed out on. Basically, I want to see pictures of those Beauties I cannot have, just like I wznna see pictures of those hunky men in harlequin romance novels I can never have. Running to grab a box of tissues and some popcorn! Oh and as a sneak preview, here's my first self-deemed unicorn. This picture is from the Omotesando cosmetic boutique. The blusher in the middle is the real unicorn. It was only available at this one store location to celebrate its opening. I went in to snag one for someone else and they were sold out. See the sold out sticker? They sold out in a week and STILL had the darn set on display one month later!!! Why????
trying new products can be...overwhelming. do you love a product because it works ? can you tell right away if it's performing the way you want it to ? sometimes i'm so happy to finally try something and let my enthusiasm blind my actual impression of it (at least at first ) it takes time to come to proper conclusions ! particularly when it comes to skincare, but makeup too. so here's a thread where we can discuss our experiences while trying a product for a first time. it can also be a place that people can reference if they're considering a new product. right now i'm trying a sample of the REN v-cense night cream. i've only used it for 2 nights so far, but i LOVE IT. i love it so much i'm tempted to go ahead and grab it up, but i need to make sure it doesn't break me out over time (it contains shea butter which *can* be a breakout trigger for me, but not necessarily). it smells of frankincense which i adore, but i know for some people would be a turn off. i'm also checking out the VICHY aqualia thermal serum. i really love the CAUDALIE vinosource s.o.s. thirst quenching serum, and prefer the texture of it to the VICHY, but think the caudalie may break me out slightly (i also was probably overusing it...i was very enthusiastic). so i'm just trying to figure out which i prefer. how about you ?
Beauties, I'm wondering if I need to try a different shadow primer, or if they all do this... I currently use UD primer potion, and as much as I love that it never leaves shadows creasing on me, I do find that it is much harder to blend out my shadow when I've applied primer. I generally apply the primer, wait a minute or two for it to dry, then apply my shadow. Am I doing something wrong? I figure this is kind of the point of shadow primer (to not let it move) but how do you find the happy medium? I also notice if I accidentally get a bit in my crease area it catches tons of shadow and makes it look patchy. Thoughts?
SEPHORA IS BEING SUED FOR RACIAL DISCRIMINATION Sephora has gotten itself into hot water in the wake of a 20 percent off sale in early November that wound up crashing its site. Four women of Chinese descent have filed a class action suit against the beauty retailer and LVMH, its parent company, for discriminating against minority customers — in this case, deactivating and blocking accounts of shoppers "of perceived Chinese/Asian descent based on the ill-founded and discriminatory belief that all Chinese/Asian customers abuse discount sales to enagage in bulk purchase for re-sale." Yep. That does not sound good. According to the court filing, the Sephora site crashed on Nov. 6, preventing any customers from accessing their accounts or making purchases, but later that evening the site was back up and running. As the retailer explained things on its Facebook site e , the malfunctioning owed to "high levels of bulk buys for reselling purposes in North America and other countries" and a number of accounts it believed to be associated with that activity remained suspended. You can see where this is going: According to the plaintiffs, the blocked accounts belonged to "email addresses with names that appeared to signify Chinese/Asian race/ethnicity/national origin/descent" or web domains originating in China or Asia. Hence the suit, which the four women — Xiao Xiao, Man Xu, Jiali Chen and Tiantian Zou — filed in the Southern District of New York U.S. District Court on Tuesday. Sephora has a slightly different take on things. Here's a statement sent to Fashionista by a rep for the company: The sale is going strong
Hey ladies and gents! I'm always on the hunt for new brands to explore. I love supporting smaller companies that are female and/or minority owned. (the ones you share don't have to be) What are your favorite indie brands? Makeup, beauty, body care, clothes etc? I've loved oyin handmade for YEARS since they started in 1999/2000 or so. They have really grown and are now available in target stores in some areas. I also love bake shop butters (the owner is so sweet) she just got married so her shop is closed for now, but her body butters are WONDERFUL and smell so good. Toni Daley makes some AMAZING jewelry! I have some of her earrings and any time I wear them someone always asks me where I got them. Rachel Stewart also make some incredible pins and earrings.
While I patiently wait for my four VIBR sale orders to arrive I have decided to man up (lady up?) and ban myself from purchasing anything not gift related until Black Friday. I do most of my Sephora shopping during these last few months of the year but even this time I went a little crazy. Anyone else putting off buying cosmetics/skincare/stuff in general until Black Friday or beyond? Cause if I don't I'm headed for this (minus the atrocious spelling error): (Ha, not really.. but maybe..)
I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else.. At last night's event the girl at the register next to me was trying to buy multiples of several items. The cashier told her that there was a limit of 3 per item, per customer. The girl's English was almost nonexistent because she just kept giving a blank stare and asking "how much?" so the cashier finally told her that she would just do multiple separate transactions so she could buy all of the items. I don't know what she was buying, and she very well might have been purchasing the same item for her nine sisters back home, but it made me wonder -- why even put these policies in place if no one is sticking to them? Every time I check the sephorahaul tag on Instagram it's flooded with people selling Sephora and Ulta exclusives overseas through their accounts. I don't begrudge anyone for trying to make a living however they can but it is annoying to see tons of the Too Faced melted lipstick sets for sale on there when they're sold out online and in stores. I also saw massive amounts of girls writing to Sephora's FB page about their accounts being locked and accused of being resellers -- an inordinate amount, it seems. Just wondering if anyone else has seen any of this stuff going on?
ok, so i've been thinking of what 'angle' to take for this thread. i'm not talking anything too hardcore, here. but i figured it could be a thread that inspires and informs the little "treats" we can give to our skin with the products a lot of us have at home. with the massive shift in weather this past week, my skin freaked out. it was so, so thirsty, as the cool air mixed with dry blasts of hot hair sucked all the moisture out. it was a double whammy for me because this cold front coincided with my skin's most vulnerable time of the month (if ya catch my drift). so when i got home from work yesterday, i...got to work. i wanted to hydrate hydrate hydrate, and soooothe. this is what i used: took makeup off with a balm. shown here is my usual clinique take the day off balm--i ended up using my boots botanics balm as it's just a bit more rich, which is what i wanted for these purposes. any balm would do though ! removed with warm water and a washcloth. dried skin then second cleansed with an oily non-foamy cleanser. my current FAVORITE cleanser, NUDE omega jelly. god i love it. massaged for a couple minutes then rinsed. (not pictured, but) i think did a VERY LIGHT exfoliation to ensure my skin was rid of any dead skin hanging about after being dried out. i used AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant (a liquid with salicylic acid) PETER THOMAS ROTH cucumber mask. what i love about this mask is how soothing it is. it's NOT hardcore. i put this on then proceeded to watch a movie or something. you can leave it on for as long as you'd like. i think i had it on for 30-45 minutes. then i took it off with lukewarm water and a wash cloth. my skin already felt so. much. better. i then used my new murad hydrating toner. i could've used this before the mask. but what's cool about it is that it helps your skin retain moisture as well as help balance pH levels. but any sort of hydrating toner / floral spritz would do. (caudalie beauty elixir, a rose water, etc) serum. i wanted to use a "hydra" serum--any sort of serum that helps with retaining water. i used this vichy aqualia thermal. caudalie s.o.s thirst quenching serum is also fantastic. oil -- i used my beloved clarins blue orchid oil. i put it on my drier cheeks, but actually...i also used it for a bit of spot treatment. i was getting a pimple below my lip, and now, no more pimple ! moisturizer. as my skin was severely dehydrated (rather than dry) i used my aveda botanical kinetics moisturizer: the first ingredient is water (hydrating) and the second ingredient is aloe (soothing). hours later i spritzed some beauty elixir and applied more moisturizer before bed. and today my skin is back to normal !! so...this is a sort of routine you can loosely follow (plug in whatever products into the steps) if you're skin is needing a bit of help with feeling tight / dry / thirsty. i'd like this to be a sort of thread people can use for a reference to see others' product recommendations or methods. all skins are different, so what are your tricks ?
Edit- I received my packages yesterday, 2 days prior and my point are added, i hope the same with every one. Thank u so much Sephora CS. I just received email from sephora customer care, stating that " Due to an overwhelming response to our 20% off event, our Distribution Centers are experiencing processing delays. Your order will be delivered by Wednesday, November 19th . We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, to express our apology, we will add 500 points to your Beauty Bank. These points never expire and can be redeemed online or in-store. Your Beauty Bank balance will reflect the additional points within 2-3 business days". Did any one received this email? I'm happy that Sephora recognizing our inconvenience. Thank you.
I'm only twenty but I notice small fine lines on my forehead and creases from where I smile. Is there any product that I should be using that's preventative so these don't get any worse or that will make them go away?
I saw a lot of people posting in the "Found in the wild New" post about Lime Crime now being sold at Sephora. It seems like there are a lot of strong opinions because of the controversy surrounding this brand so I thought it would be fun if it had its own topic. So what are your thoughts on Lime Crime now being sold at Sephora? edit: I want to apologize for creating another thread on this. I didn't realize it had already been talked about! I should of looked it up first, so again, I'm sorry.
Okay Beauties, When I bought the Tarte pin-up girl palette it unlocked a level of blush craziness in me that I'd never imagined possible. The only problem is I don't know how to pick out blush for myself. How do you find a color that looks good on you? Are there any brands that are particularly good?
So I bought my first bottle of Julep nail polish and have fallen in love! This formula is awesome! I got Candace and I am thinking of checking out more colors. I like all sorts of colors esp glittery ones. I'm not such a neutral fan unless it has some sparkle. The only colors I do not wear are red, yellow, and white/off white. So what are your favorite shades (obviously ones that are available currently ) Thank you in advance
Are there any types of makeup you just don't like? I don't mean a particular brand, but just an entire type. For example, I stopped buying lipstick when I realized that I almost never choose to wear it. I love stains and balms and glosses, but lip color in stick form is just not my thing. Another thing I don't wear too often is powder blush. I wear blush nearly every day, but it's usually a cheek stain, because I think cheek stains both look and feel better on my dry skin. So do you all have any quirky dislikes like I do?
I was looking at Urban Outfitters and some bloggers...all these Korean brands. The first Tony Moly is on Sephora (and Shiseido but not Shu eumura). Anyone buy them? Like the cute packaging? Are the colors transferable to most people's everyday? Insight is so appreciated! And Shu Eumura has 25% off now. Buying anything?
I just saw on the UD website, as I keep stalking it, that LTD will be available December 4th at 1:00 am PST. I know I will be waiting up for it...anyone else? Now only if the Mega Pro would come back...
Hi everyone, I neep help !! I have very curly, frizzy, dry and thin hair. Yes, the worst combo ! lol I always blow dry my hair the same day I wash them cause I haven't found the right techniques or products that really work to tame my hair down while not making them even more curly. I have tried many things... Mousse makes my hair even curlier, gel makes them crunchy, oil is good but not enough to control frizz. I would love to find a products or learn some techniques that would not make my hair even more curly, something that can control frizz and bring back some life into them. Thank you so much
My face is DRY! DRY! I use masks and moisturize, but during the day, its just dry in places where acne has been or Ive been wiping my nose non-stop and I need a moisturizer I can apply over makeup. I was using Clinique's Moisture surge but ran out, and its pricey. I use it bc a Clinique SA once told me it can be put over top of makeup as needed. It seems to work...any other suggestions?
