I had a friend ask me what I would consider basics for beauty and skincare as she is just starting out in the beauty world and is looking to get a regimen going. However being the beauty junkie that I am I am trying to narrow down a list for her. So what would you consider Cosmetic and Skincare basics?
A little bit about my skin: I am 24 and have combination/dry skin I am currently using Philosophy Time in a Bottle as my serum and am really liking it, however I am running out of it and looking to switch it up for a bit. I just don't want my skin to get too used to Time in a Bottle since I am still young and will probably really "need" it in the future lol. I do want a serum with anti-aging benefits and hydration is always a plus. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Looking forward to reading all the suggestions
I thought it'd be fun to create a thread where we share our 'mask faces'! I'd love to see how lovely & silly you all look with masks on It'd be great if you mention the name of the mask you are using as well! I'll start things off! Tonight I am using the Lush Magnaminty mask
Hi everyone! Okay so I recently visited my Sephora store, and I asked about a Acne cleanser or spot treatment. And the lady who attended to me gave me a sample of Peter Thomas Roth sulfur masque. Then she asked if I ever used a Clarisonic. I never did, or even thought about getting one. She went on to talk about how she highly recommends it to everyone, and it made me think I should invest in one! I do have acne prone skin..mostly hormonal breakouts. She said it would really help get my skin clean and free of any dirt/makeup laying on my skin after cleansing/exfoliating. i know you need to replace the brush after so long too. I am on the outs on getting one, I just need some input on what you guys think?? Do you think its a good investment?
Have you seen this baby yet? So pretty! Temptalia posted this today. $250.00 U.S. / $295.00 CDN (Limited Edition) "Availability: September 2nd for VIB Rouges, full release on September 9th at Sephora and September 2nd at Make Up For Ever Boutiques." Temptalia
This hasn't been started yet so I'll give it a go. Today is the last day that SiJCP has an extra 25% off clearance so I stopped in to poke around before I start up the smoker for tonight. I grabbed all these goodies for $30.
Hello there! So my aunt, who's probably in her 40's, has some pretty severe hyper pigmentation on her neck! She's constantly embarrassed about it and she has tried many products. Unfortunately I can't list any of them since I don't know and has even gone to a dermatologist... and that has failed. From what I know she has used only lotions and gels. I am hoping for some of you beauty lovers to have an idea or a cure or even know someone who has been able to overcome it and recommend what they used. She's pretty desperate at the moment on trying to get rid of it. to have an idea on what her hyper pigmentation looks like I will link some photos below (not her but what it sort of looks like). Just try to imagine this all on the front of a neck... There isn't anything graphic just a picture of a neck and cheek if you were wondering! https://escholarship.org/uc/item/4580r7rs/1b.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3BbOj5vt2zA/TkEF2sDjL9I/ AAAAAAAAAE0/rNQg5-PR4yQ/s1600/acanthosis-nigricans ... Please help!

Can you mix powder foundations like, MATTE Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 - Golden Medium (from BAREMINERALS), with water to make it a liquid foundation? It may be best to just buy liquid foundation but it does not sit well on my face! So I was just wondering if it were possible to turn the matte powder into a liquid, with water, and apply it with a brush? Thanks!
From yahoo: "The set features deluxe size samples of MAKE UP FOR EVER's Smoky Extravagant mascara and Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N9." For the men: Sephora is offering its male Beauty Insiders a reason to celebrate with an exclusive gift from JACK BLACK. The deluxe-sized sample of JACK BLACK Performance Remedy™ Turbo Wash™ Energizing Cleanser for Hair & Body contains rosemary, eucalyptus and juniper berry for a refreshing sensory boost any time of day.
Guys, my current foundation shades just aren't doing it for me, but my concealer is a great match. So I am looking for a foundation that is closer to my concealer shade. I am using MUFE Full Cover Concealer in #6 Ivory. I am open to any brand, any coverage, and finish. I just need that right color. So please feel free to suggest any foundation that is a match to my concealer. Thanks guys!
I didn't start wearing makeup until I was in my 30's. The learning curve has been steep and there are still things I struggle with learning. How do I find makeup classes in my area? I don't want to go to a makeup counter, I want a true sit down and learn class. Everyone and their mama is a MUA these days how do I go about finding a TRUE MUA and taking a class? I really want to learn how do a winged liner (hooded eyes), apply eyelashes, contouring, highlighting and different shadow techniques. Can you all help me? I'm in the northeast close to DC/DelMarVa/Philly areas. TIA NAA
So, I really want to try a really vibrant violet lip color. I looked in past threads to get ideas but the last post was about a year ago and, let's be real, a whole lot of new makeup products come out in a year. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions! I am not looking for anything dark or vampy. I am contemplating Too Faced Violet Melted Lipstick. If anyone has any other ideas I would really appreciate it!
Hi, everyone I could really use some color match help. I'm currently living in Japan, so I can't really go into a Sephora myself and get color matched, however I can order from Sephora online and they'll ship to me here. Anyway, I would love to order the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation. I have been using Mac Studio Fix in the color NC20 for years. I'd like to try this new foundation but am not really quite sure, which color. Is there anyone out there, who might be able to know which color would best suit me? Thanks, sincerely.
I am using the Estee Lauder Doublewear Fresco 2c3 and I would love trying a foundation in another brand, I love the long wear and the semi-matte finish. I wouldn't mind the new foundation being a little more lightweight as long as it's still long wear and build-able .Please help
I'm going to watch a concert tonight. I really like Irina Shayk's hair and makeup look here. Is this a good look for a concert? I also posted what I'm going to be wearing... Let me know if you have any suggestions or if you think this should be fine. It's been awhile since I last watched a concert.
I have lots of eyelashes however they are very short. I know it's weird. After wearing mascara, it turns out quite good. However, I'm so tired of wearing mascara at the moment that I'm considering wearing fake lashes everyday (even at work). I work at an insurance firm. I'm just wondering if you girls will wear fake lashes too during the day at work? Thanks.
Please help! So, I have the tarte 12 hour foundation in medium tan and I am in love with it. I used to hate it because I bought the duel ended foundation brush (flat top and pointed) to apply it and it looked streaky.. but I now use the real techniques pointed foundation brush and I like how it looks like now. HOWEVER, everytime I wear this foundation I can see the bits of glitter or shimmer on my face. I tried blending it away and its still there...And its really noticeable when I'm in the sun! It's really embarrassing and my sister asked me why I wore glitter on my face. I want to know if any of you have had this problem or had and know how to sort of deal with it. I really love the coverage, consistency, and the overall look of it and want to use it up! I'm not sure if its the brush I'm using or whatever.. I do use a primer and I put a powder or it (either my benefit or rimmel stay matte or BM mineral veil) and it still looks shimmery.
So I was surfing BT a little and I get a pop-up (at least I think it was a pop-up, maybe i accidentally clicked the button at the bottom lol) that says "Favourite thing about Sephora.com? What new feature should we add?" Here is my response. "Sephora treats their Canadian customers horribly. I understand that we have to pay taxes and now duties (geez thanks) - and that's fine. BUT, our minimum $ amount for free shipping is $75! Whilst our American counterparts' minimum is only $50. Also the markup on the products is ridiculous! I know that there is an exchange rate but I also know that it is NOT THAT MUCH! (and all the prices vary in markup, hence how i know that it's mainly markup and not just the exchange rate). Not to mention things like the fragrance sets. We don't get the voucher for the free purfume of our choice, but Americans do?! How the heck is that fair?!?! Basically, treat us Canadians better - or we'll just spend our money elsewhere, and Sephora - you will be become our last resort."
How about a little spin on "what are you wearing"? I'm putting myself out there right now with a not very flattering "before" and a much more forgiving "after." Come and join me in some transformation magic! Before: After: The Tools:
I love seeing other peoples empties! So I decided to make a board where people could post pictures of their empties, or just tell us about them! I'd also be interested in knowing whether you're repurchasing anything or not.
Someone in a Facebook group posted this question, so now I'm curious to know how much YOUR face is worth! Add the price of everything you used! (You can add skincare if you want ) Today, my face is worth $139!
