Good morning my dolls! Gosh, the fact that it has been about three months since ive talked to y'all makes me so sad I will be on more often though so Yay!, Sadly many of my beauty sisters have moved onto another website which just my opinion, is not as fun as it is here. There are many new faces, and im excited to get to know y'all by talking about makeup, health, daily activities and whatever is on your minds! Just to introduce myself to those who I have not met, my user is londonlover101 (old username from 4 years ago) And my name is Skye <3 Anyway to get to the point of the other topic, my birthday is in three days, YAY!!!! Im going to go to the mall with one of my best friends and we are going to shop to our hearts content, although in case you dont know me I am one savvy gal. On the hunt for B-day freebies, good sales/bargains and other coupons. I have signed up for everything, literally EVERYTHING, and have found a few deals that peaked my interest Starbucks: Enjoy a free handcrafted beverage of your choice on your birthday with your starbucks reward card or mobile app. (Not yet found a way to print out the reward card, and the mobile app is out for me since my phone broke) Aveda: Okay my little sugarsnaps, when I stumbled across this offer I was freaking out (In a good way) I had just remembered that there was an Aveda in my mall (Thank gosh we live in Florida, we have the 5 or 10th biggest mall in the world, I think) So I just did a little research, not expecting to find much considering many other companies only offered lame 20% off coupons and " If you spend 50$ you receive two ounces of shampoo!" How exciting! Not. So On the Aveda Birthday program signup apparently when you sign up with your email, address, and birthday you are sent a postcard for a coupon for a customized pure-fume or shampoo. So far I believe you do not need to purchase anything to receive this offer. If I have to spend 25$ to get this, I will just give the coupon to someone else considering I don't even go in there often. But one little problem, I singed up only a few days ago and the postcard is supposed to be mailed 28 days within your birthday,so I will probably talk to a representative and ask for an email instead. Sephora: When signed up with the beauty insider program you are able to receive a free gift (already chosen, this year I really dont like it, the makeup for ever one) Within 28 days before or after your birthday which I really like. Ulta: Still need to figure this one out but ad far as I now its a full-size calvin klein one mascara (worth 18$) no purchase required. Journeys: Sign up for the birthday club (they also have a kids birthday club for the younger ones) and you will recieve a coupon for 15% off your next purchase. BUT you have to wait 6-8 weeks to recieve your birthday card, AGH!! (just signed up moments ago, when I found it) This is all I can find for now but I wil post updates, post your findings and I would love to hear about you too, lets get to know each other dolls! Wild and love, Skye <3
I don't know if any of you ladies know about this but Sonia Kashuk just came out with a LE 15 piece brush set in celebration of their 15th anniversary. I just picked up the last one in my town today during my lunch break. I personally think this is a steal. It is $40 at Target. If you can find it, I suggest to get it right there and then because this set is sold out almost everywhere and each Target in the US and Canada each get 2 sets. Go on to Target's website and use the "find in a Target store" and click on "pick up in store" if it shows up to reserve it. Sonia Kashuk is trying to keep it in stock but it keeps selling out. This set will be available until October according to their customer service line. If anyone wants to know how they perform, let me know and I will do a small review here on BT.
With the Rouge Event just around the corner, and money to be spent, heres my list! My current (it could grow) wishlist : With so many holding off on purchasing, and the 4x point reward, I'd love to see what people have their eye on or what they plan on hauling at the event! So....Whats on your list?!
So I've been using Urban Decay Primer Potion (alternating between Original & Eden) for the last 5 years I'd say. I'm starting to feel kind of unsatisfied by it. The lasting power with it is phenomenal. However, I have noticed it is not as easy to blend certain eyeshadows when I use it. I alternated to using MAC's paint pot in Painterly which I love. The problem with Painterly is, even though it does make a beautiful base and blending is a dream, it does not hold up well with my eyeshadow. I have creasing and fading after just a few hours. Just for reference, I'm using shadows by UD, MAC, Laura Mercier, MUG, etc. I guess I'm looking for the best of both worlds. I'm looking for an eyeshadow primer that holds my eyeshadow in place all day while not changing the texture of my lids so I can still blend very easily. I love the gradient eyeshadow looks! Any tips or brands recommended? I was thinking of trying the Nars eyeshadow primer but it's $25 a pop which is a little more than I'd like to spend. I'll do it if I must, but I wanted to see what you lovely people had to say first! :-D
I just came back from Asia (business, not fun) and saw that a lot of people there are using something called circle lenses. They're contact lenses that make your eye's iris look bigger. Have you guys ever heard of this here in the US? I'm just curious... (and, honestly, I have no clue in which board to post this... going with eye makeup as it's sounds like the closest)
Hi all ! I know that August is one of the best times to shop at Sephora because of the great perks, extra points and all those goodies. Has anybody heard anything about this yet? Any posters or in-store sightings? I'm so excited and we're one week away and I haven't heard anything yet! Ah !!! Doesn't 2x, 3x, or 4x (depending on membership) sound awesome? I really hope that Sephora hasn't forgotten...Hoping for bigger and better things this year, not to say that last years wasn't too shabby itself. Let's end this with a question: Q: What was your favorite perk/part/time of August Appreciation Month? My answer: I love the whole month, even though promos change weekly, I loved the VIB Bag w/samples and the 3x points, pretty sweet
I always knew that my skin is oily, but I think my skin is also dehydrated....because I rarely drink water.. heheh. I did a search and a lot of people recommended drinking more water (duh), Clinique Moisture Surge, and Korres Greek Yogurt Moisturizing Face Cream. Is there anything else that you can recommend?
Hello, looking for a backup to my KVD Mi Vida Loca palette. How does Marc Jacobs the Siren compare? Are you able to lightly tap and get alot of pigmentation? I know Siren isn't as bright which is a plus for me, just don't know when a NIB Mi Vida Loca is going to come up again on Ebay and I really like to have a back up to her palettes. Should of bought Mi Vida Loca when it went onsale here a long time ago...ugh...*kicks self*
I'll be taking an overnight flight and wanted to get some tips on skincare to prevent my skin from drying out and breaking out. My beauty advisor at Sephora recommended the Ole Henrikson making removing cloths followed by the Murad Clarifying wipes to remove makeup, sunscreen, and clean my skin. I purchased these two items. Then I was thinking about what to follow it with. I was thinking of the Nude Overnight Mask or the Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Mask. Any opinions on the Nude mask vs the Amore Pacific Mask? I've used the Nude mask (not on the plane), but never tried the Amore Pacific. Also, do I need to use any other treatments or moisturizers before the mask? Just a quick FYI to anyone with a Costco membership; the store near me (Fremont CA to be exact) has Glam Glow Power Mud for around $36. This is the newer mud-oil hybrid deep cleansing treatment. Also, to, and more exciting to me, this Costco also has Chanel nail polish! The price on the nail polish was $20 or so IIRC? Shades included Jade Rose (pale peachy pink), a red and a warm grey (sorry, don't recall the name) and Vertigo, a shimmery dark taupe brown. Vertigo came home with me. Whoohoo for Costco! I had no idea they carried prestige brands, it was my first trip there ever.
ok, story time. are there any specific trends you took part in--or habits you too part of--only to look back and think 'WHAT WAS I THINKING?!'. it may be embarrassing, it may be humorous, either way--it's one of the more entertaining elements of beauty/makeup that we can only learn to fully understand (and appreciate !) with hindsight. in the early 2000s i hated the fact i was pale, so i was often a victim of the earlish days of the self tanner craze. i remember thinking it was MAGIC, only to to notice the next day in fresh daylight that i had bright orange streaks running down my calf. and you'd think that would've taught me my lesson but i'd just pretend like it wasn't there and continued on with it for months. another was the disaster at my attempt at a glossy eyelids (posted about more thoroughly in the 'what was your first sephora purchase' thread). and i'll add more to these 'confessions' as i remember more ! just to note: this is all in good-spirited nostalgic fun, and NOT to demean anyone's tastes or experiences.
Hey guys, could someone tell me how the Beauty Studio make-overs go? Like, once you are there do you tell them what products to use or they just sit you down and use the products they think are best? Also, BIG QUESTION, do you show up with a clean face (no makeup)? I don't feel too comfortable walking around the mall bare-faced until I am able to make my way through the food court and into the Sephora store. Can make-up simply be removed at the store instead? I have never used this service and am completely clueless as to how it goes (besides making the online appointment). Help?
I know this may sound harsh, but I really dislike all drugstore makeup. I'm sure there are many products out that are of great quality, even better than some high end makeup, but I have never found a drugstore product that I have liked. I've tried primers, foundations, powders, eye shadows, eye liners, mascaras, lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip stains, but each product has left me disappointed. I've also tried makeup removers from the drugstore, but they also left me disappointed. Does anyone else dislike drugstore makeup? I've stopped trying drugstore makeup all together now because every product has left me disappointed; which led to quite a bit of money being wasted. I only get high end makeup now because I am rarely ever disappointed with my purchases.
I feel bad even writing this...and I'm not trying to offend any of the girls that work for Sephora. I just want to know if anyone else has had a bad experience with a makeover at Sephora. I went there yesterday for foundation, concealer and blush. She offered to try some products on me. I don't know if it was her or the lighting, but the concealer she had used (becca creamy concealer) was SO ORANGE on my skin. I am super pale, and I don't know why she thought it looked good. Then she tried a MUFE concealer under my eyes, and it was ghostly and all you could see was my purple bags. Next we moved on to foundation, and she still couldn't get a color right. So now I am totally clues as to what skin tone/IQ I am :-( A little disappointing. Do you know if they take makeup training classes like MAC does, or is it just basic application? Thanks for any feedback.
I made a post last week about need a solution to my lipstick application problems but nothing is working still. I took mostly everyones advice and it still isn't working. Every time I put on lipstick it still always settles into my lip lines. I prime my lips with the Bite Beauty Lip Primer and then I line my lips with a lip liner and apply my lipstick of choice and it still settles into my lip lines. I exfoliate my lips but it still doesn't help. Is there anything else I can do?
Hi girls! I need your help to find my shade in other full coverage foundations and concealer. I think Marc Jacob's gel genius foundation in 46 "Golden Deep" is perfect. So what other foundation / shade would be perfect or close to perfect? High-end and/or drugstore. *please don't use the "color iq" I've tried it and found it inaccurate. thanks!
So I see that a lot of folks are not liking this new eyeliner, mainly because the formula is so dry that it doesn't go on smoothly. I tried this little trick this morning and it improved things greatly. The trick is gentle heat. You could probably just give the pen a little blast with a hairdryer, but mine wasn't handy so this is what I did. Make sure lid is screwed on nice and tight Place pen tip side down in a mug of hot tap water for about a minute Prep the tip by wiping it clean with a tissue dipped in the hot water and cleaning off any old product Twist and do a couple of test swipes on the back of your hand Ready to go It improves performance quite a bit, as the indirect heat softens the formula just enough. The downside to it is that it can be a little wasteful, as the heat will push out more product than you probably want. But I figure it's not as wasteful as having a $25 eyeliner sitting there that's impossible to use AMIRITE?
I was at a friends last night and we ended up watching episode after episode of hoarders which was shocking and frightening at the same time. Today I read a comment asking to see my makeup collection so I pulled out my palettes out of their respective drawers for a photo and realized I have more than I thought. Also I realized how anxious I was about my hubby coming up and seeing how many I own. needless to say, they went back very quickly! I'm wondering if this is too many or if I'm just sitting pretty. I do use them all save for the nars ones. how many palettes do you own? do you use them all?
Has anyone gotten the Smashbox Master Class III Palette? I've been eyeing this one up, but I have to wait a few months to get it since I've already spent over my budget for the time-being! ;-) I found some closeup photos of it and swatches of it online via cosmeticblur blog, and all the colors look so absolutely amazing! Does anyone know if this is in the permanent line or is it limited edition? If it's limited edition will it still be here in a few months? I just can't stop looking at all the colors and really don't want to miss out on this one! *drool*
Saw Temptalia's post a couple of days ago on the Givenchy Fall collection for this year, and it's all so beautiful -- from the packaging to the colors. I mean, look at the burgundy leather encasement for the Le Rouge lipsticks! However, the only one I will probably get is the Blush Memoire De Forme Pop Up Jelly Blush in Rose Extravagant -- am I crazy to want to drop $37 on a blush?! :-\ Yikes... However, I feel that between the color and the packaging, it's something that I can admire for a while...as long as it doesn't dry up at some point. From Make Up 4 All blog From Fashion Trend Seeker
I am looking for a skin care line that is easy and resolves issues with my very, very dry skin. I am 66 years old and want something that is easy and does not take long to apply and use successfully. Could you please give me some ideas? While cost is not extremely important, I would like a product that is reasonable, not extravagant in the snout of money it takes to maintain the routine. Please advise.
Riders! I am looking at getting riding lessons, but I have never even put on a racing helmet, only ones for go carting with a head sock on. So my question is, will wearing a helmet rub makeup off? If I decide to not drive and ride everywhere instead, will I have to give up makeup?
Hi, Im a male asian and i have really oily skin. Iv just moved to LA and the sun seems to be doing its damage to my face. Iv decided to get some sunscreen and tried a couple of brands laying around the house. Chanel and lancome? But these feel gross after awhile on my skin and get way too oily. Also the chanel ones seems to make my pores or white head even whiter by filling them up or something? SO my question is what is the best sunscreen for oily skin?! I JUST got this today: http://www.sephora.com/oil-control-mattifier-spf-1 5-pa-P227801?skuId=1133727#BVRRWidgetID AND I LOVE IT! but my friends are saying spf 15 is too weak... is spf 15 not going to be strong enough for daily use? im not outside all day in the field. just running errands and such. thanks!
