We swatched Urban Decay's new Naked3(!!) palette to see how the colors looked on different skintones. What do you think?

Thought I'd start a non-makeup thread on those times inside a Sephora store when we've unknowingly been placed on the spot -- and possibly blushing every shade of pink one could imagine. -During a recent trip, the employee who rang me up practically yelled, "You have XXXX points!!! Would you like to redeem anything from our display?" Needless to say, everyone standing around the register turned to look at me, and I could see the wheels turning in their heads as to how much I've spent. Clearly they've missed the memo that 4X points was a few months prior and that I'm a points hoarder. -One pushy (borderline getting on my nerves) MUA asked which UD or YSL eyeshadow I had on, since the color was extremely vibrant and glittery on my eyes. It was neither but, in fact, a L'oreal Infallible. The plus side was that I was able to shop in peace after telling her that Share away, folks!
Hi everyone!!! This is a follow up post to my male celebrity crushes post from a few weeks ago! If you could marry any male celebrity, who would it be? I would marry Henry Cavill. That man is fineeeeeee. But he's 12 years older than me I have him as my phone background and my computer screen saver 3, 2, 1, GO!!!! P.S. I really should be studying for my finals but, I'm too stressed, tired, and don't want to anymore. :/
When he hates the smell of nail polish and surprises you with a $21 limited edition Burberry shade! Enchanted is one of my top favorite movies! Now the pressure is on me to get him something equally thoughtful for Christmas. Credit: belletristicbeauty.com
This morning my husband accidentally spilled his coffee all over my vanity...right on my beautiful display do Urban Decay palettes. I learned they are NOT coffee-proof! While that was a might bit disappointing...I actually felt worse for him...he felt terrible! And he says "those were probably expensive....probably like twenty bucks or something." Thinking no comment from me....but I hope they dry out! Yikes!
Confession: I have never been able to wash my face in the sink without making a mess. Water gets all over the counter (and everything on the counter), drips down my arms and off my elbows, goes down my shirt, and soaks the front of my hair. I am not exaggerating. As a result, I have almost exclusively reserved face washing for the shower. But now that I'm trying to take better care of my skin (and wash my face twice a day), the "in the shower" thing doesn't cut it. What am I doing wrong?! Why am I such a mess? Does this happen to anyone else, and have you found any ways to stop the flooding?
I have a couple of work holiday parties to go to and would love to try something new and dressed up while remaining professional. Does anyone have any ideas? I've done the pale eye with heavy winged liner and red lip a couple of times and want to switch it up (although I do love a red lip for the holidays!)
Hello all! I was just wondering what everyone's favorite part of their morning beauty routine is just for fun!! Whether it's playing around with all your different eyeshadow colors, putting on your blush for some rosy cheeks, swiping on your favorite lipstick, making your hair look flawless, or even that last spray of perfume. Personally, I just love picking out what lipstick/lipgloss combo I'm going to finish off my look with. I am a lipstick girl all the way!! What's your favorite??

So McDonalds decided to start serving poutine across Canada. I'm pretty sure it was available in the Quebec McDonalds but now it's gonna be across the country. This kinda annoys me even if I don't like McDonalds (probably because I had too much late night McDick's back in college).... I mean they are ruining a national dish!!! If people who never had poutine before decide to have it from McDonalds for the first time... pretty sure they won't like it... ah! marde de clown! My fellow Canucks what do you think? My American friends... never have poutine at McDonalds! THIS IS NOT POUTINE THIS IS POUTINE End of rant!
Congrats to my dear friend Poshified who has surpassed 3,000 hearts! You came onto Beauty Talk with a BANG with your No Buy July Thread (which turned into an enabler thread!!) and you have been here ever since with your Top Tuesday Thread that we all love!!! I am so glad that we became friends and makeup soul sisters!!! Here is to many more hearts for you and I love seeing you around Beauty Talk all the time and I hope you never leave!!! Many more highlighters for you! Including the Guerlain Cruel Gardenia. And of course many vintage Guerlain meteorites (ie "magic balls") What's a party without some Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders? It is definitely not a party without some YSL blushes and lippies as well!!! And it is definitely NOT a heart party without some hearts and Chanel!!! (And of course some humor!!!) We love you Poshified and I hope you have a GREAT heart party!!!
Hey ladies (and gents?) – As 2013 is coming to a close, I thought we’d like to share the best products we discovered/tried/bought this year. Let’s break it into sub-categories. I’ll go first Face – Laura Mercier Silk Crème foundation – I feel like this is my holy grail foundation, but I still want to try others. Eyes – Laura Mercier Artist palette – It won’t be a Laura Mercier list, I promise Lips – Dior Crème de Rose lip balm Best deal – I’m going to cheat and say two: All the mini perfumes for 100 points instead of 250 points and the Nars Guy Bourdin blush palette PS – Sorry I’ve started waaay too many threads the past few days. That’s what cabin fever will do to ya! Well, that and draining your wallet from all the online shopping you do. Lol PPS - Feel free to add other categories as well, these were the only ones I could think of at the moment.
I can't remember which thread it was on, but one of y'all mentioned Nordstrom's Rack having makeup and beauty products. And, dang, sure enough mine did!! How'd I NOT know this? Well... this is what just one shelf looked like, and there were about 5 like this: And, why yes that DOES day UD eyeliner for under $4... And I got ALL these polishes!! Ack!
Hi girls! So I ordered quite a few of the $10 steals and I thought it would be fun for us to write up mini review on them for each other. Mine arrived last night, so I've only tried two so far. Eyeko Mascara/Eyeliner (still available) I was SO excited to try the Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner.... and it wasn't very pigmented. Maybe it is a little dry and I need to shake it up (??) and try again tomorrow. I'll report back. I haven't tried the mascara yet but the wand is very unique. http://www.sephora.com/skinny-mini-duo-P377021?sku Id=1470962 Caudalie Hand Cream and Lip Conditioner Duo (sold out- individual links below) I had been wanting to try the lip conditioner and I constantly use hand lotion so this was perfect for me. The lip conditioner is very smooth and smells nice. The hand lotion smells sooooo good (sort of citrusy?) and my hands feel lovely! What do you guys think of your $10 sets? http://www.sephora.com/lip-conditioner-P6034?skuId =241653 http://www.sephora.com/h-nail-cream-P152203?skuId= 941609
A while back I posted a thread about products or techniques that have changed your makeup, skincare or hair care. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/Products -and-or-Techniques-that-Changed-Your-Makeup-Skinca ... On weekends I like to try new things, either products or techniques. Today in particular I had numerous epic fails. From one of my shadows shattering in the case (new, too, ugh) to a new BB cream providing zero coverage and actually turning my face red, to the second time this week cascading glitter all over my face from my eye shadow!! LOL I had to use makeup remover to take some stuff off it was so bad. Just wondering if anyone else experiences the same. I do like to change things up, but it doesn't always mean success.
Hey girls, I was at the mall today and on my way to Sephora and this young representative for a new brand called ' Orogold Cosmetics ' approached me. The store is very sleek and luxurious and looks like it's catered to high end clientele. She was ' testing ' out some products she recommended for me on my wrist. Then tried to con me into purchasing the products which I said no and would consider coming back. I go to their website and they are selling skincare that is for people who have MEGA BUCKS !. I get that it's 24K gold inside your stuff but selling it in a mall where I live ain't going to fly unless your rich. I'd suggest they go to Yorkville where the most ELITE shop in Toronto. What I found disturbing is that she's trying to say my purchases are going to irratate my skin and that the Amore Pacific stuff isn't as good. I don't care if you got 24K S**T in there I ain't buying it !. PLEASE AVOID THIS BRAND, THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND HARASS YOU !!!
I have been slathering my lips with glosses, balms, and oils all day long and they keep getting worse and worse. It all started this morning when I woke up with bright red, blistered lips with skin peeling. We had a storm in DC last night so the air is drier and colder--could this be the culprit? Has this happened to anyone else? Any recommendations? I will try ANYTHING!! It's 4am and I can't sleep because my lips are so painful from the skin cracking and peeling.
Did anyone else get sucked in to Ulta's cyber monday and still not even get a shipping notice? I never order from Ulta but they had some gifts I missed out on or didn't have at Sephora (the $10 Art of Shaving kit for my BIL, a $19 Bare Minerals kit for my SIL) and the free gift looked nice. I ordered just after midnight on sunday night/monday morning and it still says "order processing" and since it's been 5 days the pending charges aren't even on m CC anymore. I know other people are having the same issues because their Facebook page is blowing up and they sent an email out letting everyone know they are experiencing delays. They said it will still be here within 10 business days (which is really 2 weeks) but I am not confident my order will complete or have the free gift (if something is OOS it will mess up my christmas shopping because I thought I was done). I get it's shopping season, but in comparison, all my other holiday orders have been here for a few days. My Sephora CM order that I placed late on Monday got here Wednesday. My giftopia order was only 1 or 2 days behind, which wasn't bad at all. I'm on day 6 with Ulta. Anyone else having holiday shipping woes or get sucked into Ulta? I knew I was a Sephora girl before, but I can say with confidence now that Sephora > Ulta. Plus, Sephora's CS has always been good to me. Ulta doesn't seem to be handling this well. UPDATE: I received a shipping notice last night 12/9 for 2 of my items. It says the label was created so I'm not sure when I am getting them. At least I will be getting them. STILL waiting for 3 other items to ship/praying they aren't out of stock. If they are, I "loved" 3 back up Christmas gifts from Sephora. Hopefully I will know soon if I need to pull the trigger! 2ND UPDATE: Finally got a shipping notice when I woke up this morning 12/11. It *should* all be here Friday. I'm just glad I got the shipping notice. It wasn't about WHEN it would get here, it was about IF it would get here--especially since everything except the GWP was Christmas gifts for other people.
Okay...here's the deal. It's time for me to make room for baby stuff for the new addition coming in April (Yippeee!!!!). I decided to take a look at everything I have but don't use anymore--and I have quite a few things. Most of the things I have and dont' use are because I love the products but my sensative skin won't allow me to use them. Here's my list: Bare Minerals eye shadows in: onyx (liner), mystery, denim, sugar plum and masquerade Buxom shimmer shadows in Beagle and Pug Make Up Forever Aqua Creme Shadows in Aqua Black and Shade 54 Sephora Shadows in midnight kiss, caroline's pride and armelle Bare Minerals Foundation in Fairly Medium, mineral veil and warmth make Up Forever HD Liquid Foundation in N130 (I think that's the sade number--it's a medium/light shade) VS Pro Bronzing Face Primer VS Tinted Moisturizer/Primer Delux Samples of: Sephora pin-up pink lip gloss (still in wrapper) Sephora Instant Moisturizer (never used) Kat Von D Powder Foundation in Medium 54 9Still in wrapper) Smashbox under eye primer (opened, but not used) Products that have been used: boscia clear complexion tonic Sephora Waterproof eye makeup remover Murad exfoliating acne treatment gel and spot treatment Boscia BB cream Fragrances--Full size bottle, most of them barely used: Georgio Armani Acqua di Dioia 1oz bottle and 3.4 oz bottle Ibiza Sol Urban Flowers Paris Urban Flowers London Pur Blanca- Blossom Just Play Philosophy You are Divine Philosophy Love Sweet Love U by Ungaro for her (Four 1.7 oz bottles, still in wrapper)--I love this stuff, but it doesn't love me back :-( Skin So soft Satin Glow Glow Gel (seven 6.7 oz bottle, still sealed) Full Size mark mascara in jet black Few misc eyeshadow colors and lotions Some of the products are used! I know that they are clean and all that...I never use my fingers for dipping into my make-up and I'm not including anything that is not hygenic...like used mascara! And...I'm giving all this away to whoever wants it. If you want it, PM me. but there are a few rules...I'm giving this away because I hope someone can use this stuff. I don't want any trouble and I won't be liable for anything--not that I'm not 100% confident that all these products are perfectly good and all that, but I don't want someone trying to sue me cause one of the lotions made them break out...ok. I'll ship to anywhere in the US, adn I'd like to get this to the post office on Thursday when I go mail out my Christmas presents. I will package everything very carefully and put anything liquid in ziploc bags. But I can't be responsible for any damage that might happen during shipping. I really, seriously just want to give this stuff to someone that can use it, without any trouble. And if there is anything about this post that is against the rules or guidelines, please let me know! I read through them and didn't see anything that would be, but I don't want to be banned from the most awesome forum ever!
So I buy minis of mascaras because even though I use my mascara almost every day I can't seem to use it up.....it's been 5 months now that I have had my mini benefit they're real and I still think it works just fine. I really want to try to use it up or at least wait till it dries out. Do I have to throw it away??
With the VS Fashion Show going on tonight, I though it'd be appropriate to talk about bronzers (Clockwise starting with the bronzer with the pan peeking through.) - MAC Pro Long Wear Bronzing Powder in Nude on Board: Quite possibly my favorite product from MAC, this is used to warm up my complexion. I love how this has a subtle golden sheen and, like the name says, long wearing. Another plus is that it doesn't oxidize throughout the day. -Guerlain Terracotta Four Seasons Bronzer in 00 Nude: I can't talk about bronzers and not include Guerlain, as they're practically the pioneers of best bronzers. This one in particular is great for travel as the top left quadrant can be used as an all-over powder, the two opposing quadrants as bronzer, and the bottom right quadrant as a blush. -Dolce and Gabbana blush in Tan: A total misnomer if you ask me, as I can't see anyone wearing this as a blush. It's a cool-toned, matte taupe that is perfect for chiseling cheekbones or for defining the crease, as it truly mimics what a shadow should look. -Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium: Like the D&G, I strictly use this for contouring my cheekbones, due to it's taupey nature. This isn't quite as pigmented (nor as soft) as the D&G, thus, making it difficult to over-apply. Both are incredible contouring powders, and I love them both equally. -Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base: I finally broke down and purchased one after having used a new tester my SA kindly provided me with; it was always sold out at my counter. This is very lightweight and silicone-y in nature, so it can work over both liquid and powdered foundations. It's very difficult to go overboard with this product as it provides a soft warmth to the face. What products do you turn to for achieving that bronzed look?
I am confused. I have 514 points on my account, but it still says that I need to spend $70 to get to be a VIB. I had 425 points and it said I had $70 to spend and then on Saturday I bought a $90 bottle of perfume, though my points went up to over 500, the amount that I need to spend to become a VIB still says $70. I have spent a lot at Sephora and I think that having to spend the extra $70 is wrong. Is anybody else having this problem/how can I fix it? I have called Sephora and been hung up on before I could get my question in. Please help.
So, just wondering if there's a trick to make it so I'm not all washed out in pictures. I'm not talking about the white face flash-back you get from SPF. I mean my blush and eye shadow never seems to show up in pictures. I promise I'm wearing blush and eyeshadow in this picture! I've seen a lot of you girls with gorgeous makeup in pictures, so I know it's possible! Anyone have any advice? I'm not using a flash or anything.
I always wondered if it was necessary to wash face at night if all I put on is BB or CC cream. I always (try) to wash makeup at night but is BB cream makeup when it has all the other stuff in it to make it a 5-in-one or whatever? Advice? How about other types of creams if you don't wear makeup that day?
Has anyone received theirs yet? I just took a peek at my glam room (though I always tell myself not to) and I am pretty pleased with my goodies! The Pop eyeshadow trio is so pretty, I hope I get the natural palette. We always get Be a Bombshell items, which I don't mind. I've never owned an "all over" stick so I'm excited to get it. Nail polish again, which is okay for me. I'm not a big nail person. And I own and love a lot of NYX lip products and Ardell lashes so I am very happy about those! What's in your bag and what do you think of your items? Is this month's bag worth the ten dollars for you?
