Questions on curly damaged hair
Hi, I used to have really nice tight curls but I had dyed it blonde and also did keratin treatment to smooth out my hair and that gave loose curs with lots of frizziness that I have now. I was wondering is there any advice or products I can use to get my tight curls back in the way I had them?   Thank you!

Beauty Pet Peeves
What are your beauty pet peeves?   Here are a few of mine   When there's a huge hype around an item/brand or your own hype to get something and you get it and you are just meh.   I recently got a few items that were taking FOREVER to get to my house.  Canada Post was sooo slow at processing... the items were stuck with them and the tracking wasn't moving at all.  I was so excited and couldn't wait for them to be delivered and finally the items just showed up (tracking not updated) and I was like meh... not too impressed with what I got.  I thought I'd love it but no... not really. Swatched and sitting in a drawer somewhere... awww that just kills me lol   Another one (and this is for the Canadian girls). When you see free shipping on your favorite beauty products and then notice below in very small font US ONLY. ugh   So what grinds your gears? Share your stories!!!

Best liquid lipstick?
I do this periodically.  I can't judge liquid lipsticks.  Yes, I can tell the difference between 1,000 red regular lipsticks but the liquid ones leave me confused.  So, to update my never ending question, which liquid lipstick is your must have?  Brand, shade, both, whatever.  Thanks!

Tatcha Lipsticks
Has anyone tried these?  I just got an email from them announcing their Spring release, the Plum Blossom 23-Karat lipstick.  It's a gorgeous color (rose/nude) and I'm dying to get it.  But for $55?!!?   I figure someone on BT must have tried their lipstick.  I'd love to get some feedback, about their lipsticks in general and/or this color in particular.  I like their skincare, so have high hopes for this, but their lipstick is a mystery to me.  Any help?

Q. Favorite brushes and tools?
I have been in the process of revamping my entire beauty and skincare routine because I was way overdue for an overhaul...While I have replaced my three most commonly used brushes, for the rest, this is still one of the "categories" I am still on the fence about. Call me crazy but I feel that if you use something every day regardless of what kind of look you are going for for that day the way we might use a foundation brush or blush brush, I feel that is should be something you love and look forward to using and I'm looking for some inspiration to shake things up a bit. I'm hoping everyone here can chime in on what you prefer and how they work best for you (IE, gel, cream, pressed powder, loose powder, what level of coverage it gives, do they multi-task, etc). For the record, I am including tools like the BeautyBlenders, etc. in the umbrella term of "brushes" here.   Ok, with that being said: What are your preferred all-over/face brushes? Cheek brushes? Eye brushes? Lip brushes? Body brushes if you use them? Any that you use solely for application of skincare products? Any brushes that you use for an alternate purpose than what they are marketed as?    As for my current faves: Spoiler (Highlight to read)  Sephora Classic Multitasker Powder Brush #45 - I use this for foundation. I like that it can apply full coverage as many of the ones originally recommended to me as "full coverage" or "can build up to full coverage" weren't actually achieving full coverage. I currently use it for pressed powder foundation but have heard from multiple people that it works well with liquids or creams too but I'd have to experiment with that some more before I could give any accurate reviews of its performance in that field. I have the Mini version of this for travel too and while it does take a bit longer for application because the bush head is smaller, it does work well if you are short on space but still want to create the same effects while out on vacation.   Hakuho-do + Sephora Pro - Wedge Sloping Powder Brush and Fan Cheek Brush: I just picked these two up recently and use the Wedge for setting powder when I do wear my liquid foundation on occasion but am still experimenting to learn all it can do. I am using the Fan Cheek Brush for crush currently but like I said with the Wedge Brush, since it is still very new so I am still getting adjusted to it. I love how soft they are and how luxurious they feel on my skin. Another added perk I discovered is that when I clean them in the afternoon or evening, they are dry by the next morning. Having a dry time of less than 12 hours as opposed to my Sephora Classic #45 brush taking 3-4 DAYS before it is fully dry tells me they are a higher grade synthetic that is absorbing much less water during cleansing and therefor also product during use. I did experiment a couple times with using the Hakuho-do brushes to apply my liquid foundation which I almost never wear anyway. However, I am so used to using a Beauty Blender to apply the liquid that I would have to practice more to really get the hang of this before I could really say how well they performed with liquid applications.   BeautyBlender and BB Micro-Mini: Like I said, I almost never wear my liquid foundation currently but when I do decide to, my full sized BB is truly on the Holy Grail list for application. I can build coverage as needed, and while it did take a little bit of experimentation to learn, I chalk that up to never having used anything similar prior to picking this up. I use the MicroMini for application and blending of concealer pretty much daily and love it too.    As for eye brushes and pretty much anything besides those three and the BBs, I am still looking for replacements for my old ones. I can still use the old ones as needed until I can find some I truly love but got caught up in other things and haven't gotten to look around at options at all.     Sephora Classic Multitasker Powder Brush #45 - I use this for foundation. Do you have minis you like or do you take your full size brushes with you when you travel? For those of you that have a mini set for traveling with, what do you use?  If I have forgotten anything else you feel is relevant, feel free to add that in too!

Sephora vs. Ulta - The Verdict
I've been a VIB for a few years now, and my local Sephora is within walking distance of that "other" brand. I've heard rave reviews about their rewards program, most especially about their generous giving of free product with each new level reached and not samplers.   Today, I headed to my Sephora store for the VIB event, got my bag loaded up, and then...went to Ulta. I was actually there to get a tube of NYX lip gloss since I've heard so much about it, but I went through the whole store out of pure curiosity.   The verdict? While Ulta does carry drugstore brands and their rewards are pretty lofty in comparison...Sephora has my heart. Ulta felt too "superstore-ish". No offense, but a little...below...the standard and prestige of Sephora. So, Sephora, heed our call! Amp up our VIB rewards. Tidy up the shelves and demos in your stores (our store is a tad lacking in that dept.). And, keep up the great work! = )

Which limited edition products and collections are must have and which to skip?
We've all felt the pain of those items that we would have gotten, should have gotten but now must pay way to much to buy from re-sellers.  Maybe collective BT minds can identify (while still in stock) the limited edition must haves. My recents...the Dior Nude illuminating powder (spring 2016) is a pass.  The Chanel Ribbon blush spring 2016) is a maybe.  The YSL Gypsy Opale and Indie Jaspie (face powder and eye shadow) sold out within hours of the YSL site pre-release (it just went live on NM). Anyone have any thoughts on currently available or soon to be limited editions?

RANDOM THOUGHTS : BEAUTY
Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !   today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. Where do you store your makeup?
I have little plastic, circular makeup rack type thing I bought from Walmart awhile back that I've been using to keep all my makeup in, but I've officially run out of room. I know some of you have vanities, but for those of you that don't, where do you keep your makeup? How do you organize it? I've seen some nice, big organizers online, but they seem way too expensive to me. I like having all my makeup in one place, and I hate the clutter of makeup sprawled across a bathroom counter or thrown in a drawer. Do you guys have any suggestions for a good storage system for an expanding makeup collection?

Best lighted magnifying mirror?
I've burned through a number of lighted magnified mirrors that I loved, but now I'm on the hunt for something new. Any suggestions of what to try or completely avoid?   I use the lighted magnifier for tweezing on a very regular basis, I'm obsessed with finding every little tiny stray hair. I also carefully use an extractor for some stubborn blackheads. (I never use a blemish extractor with a lance on the end and caution others to avoid lances too, that should be left to a professional dermatologist.) Hence, the reason for burning through them so quickly, not cheap ones either.   I use a regular mirror for applying skincare and makeup. I do my tweezing and makeup application while sitting on my bed, never in the bathroom. I don't want something you attach to a wall and would like to keep it under $75.00. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. 😊

Barney's Love Yourself 2016 Spring GWP (Planning, Rumors, Dates, Etc.)
This is the place to plan, get excited, and compare notes on what we think about the Barney's 2016 Love Yourself gift bag/purchase event!   Updates 1/20/15: It looks like this year's bag will be early to mid March, with some presell starting now, and the buy in will be $200.  I haven't confirmed this directly, but this all seems to be the case.   Don't forget at least 2.5% Ebates on Barneys.com if you order the GWP bag online btw (if you need an Ebates referral code PM me!).   Here is last year's spring bag for reference:   and last year's Fall bag with the grooming/men's gift on the right as well (they sometimes have a 'men's' gift option that doesn't include color cosmetics).   Previous years this event has been Feb 10-13th (i.e. Valentine's Day "Love Yourself" time), but last year it was mid-March instead, surprise.  I don't have dates for this year yet or even rumors, but I will update (or you can post below) when we hear things.   In previous years the buy-in for this GWP has been $200-250.   I usually stock up on a few necessary staples to justify the price to myself (Kiehl's Creme de Corps body wash and body scrub I always need and Barney's carries them), and then a few luxury items to try as well, to get to the GWP minimum.   Here are previous threads that discuss and compare this GWP (previous years) that you might find helpful:   http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Confessions /Saving-amp-Preparing-for-Barney-s-Mid-Feb-Awesome ...   http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Confessions /Barneys-vs-Space-NK-vs-Bluemercury-early-Septembe ...   So, join me in posting on this thread about our hopes, fears, comparisons to other GWP, and potential purchase lists (best products to buy at Barneys!? recommendations!?) below.   I know in the fall Blue Mercury and Space NK did similar GWP and similar times as the Fall Barney's big GWP bag, but I'm not sure if they do this in the Spring - so I'm not sure if there are major competing GWP to compare this time or not.  Interested in your feedback!

A setting powder for ladies who don't like powder?
Hello ladies I'm in search of a setting powder (who isn't?). I'd rather not use powder at all but the foundation I use does require it, unfortunately.   I love Diorskin Nude for touchups since it has the "barely there" look but I feel it's not the right powder to put on after fresh foundation. I have a sample of the MUFE HD Powder that I've been using, it seems to be a relatively good match but I can't quite figure out how to use it proper. Also not too crazy about the Laura Mercier power, I had high hopes for it. Am I using these wrong? My face is very sticky & moisturized after fresh foundation.   My skin type is very dry .... I appreciate all suggestions!   http://www.sephora.com/diorskin-nude-air-powder-P3 94000?skuId=1665330

Too Faced Canadian Prices vs American Prices
I couldn't find a Too Faced thread for the life of me, so forgive me if one already exists! I got an email the other day from Too Faced about their Peanut Butter and Jelly palette (which is the most adorable makeup item I've ever seen btw), so I looked on their website to see how much it was. I was shocked to find out their 9-pan eyeshadow palettes are $52 Canadian! $52!!! That's only $7 less than the 16-pan palettes on Sephora! I switched to American dollars on their website out of curiosity, and the 9-pan palettes were only $36! I understand that our dollar is really low right now, but c'mon! A $16 price difference between American and Canadian dollars? And a $7 price difference between Too Faced website and Sephora? AND Too Faced charges $20 for shipping!!! Anyway, excuse the rant, I'm just so tired of Canadians getting screwed on pretty much everything.   Also, I heard that the Peanut Butter and Jelly palette isn't going to be available at Sephora, but if anyone knows this for sure please let me know! I'm obviously not going to order it from Too Faced!

Hey Beauties- We have ALOT of threads around here for Tom Ford products. I figured I'd start one thread where we can update each other on items as they come out or we see them available.    For all my UK'ers, or people willing to pay for shipping from the UK, Harrods has Softcore and Nude Dip from the Fall collection available right now. Nicole's Wishing for Spring 2016 TSB Feb-April... AArdvark
Spoiler (Highlight to read) I have way too much stuff, so I'm starting another TSB. I've participated in many and run two TSBs, all were great experiences and I got to know people better which was fun!     This also helps support my low buy, as I get all the fun of seeing the products find new homes and new stuff to try at the end when it gets back to me.  I know a homeless outreach/shelter that I usually donate at the end, I will think about what to do this time, I haven't decided yet! Thanks!   Here is the link to GPL's box from last year that was awesome, and if we run into questions or issues I will likely refer to this thread -- I will base this box largely off her process/rules.  (Notably, our box will not be new only though, swatched and gently loved welcome.)   http://community.sephora.com/t5/VIB/NEW-Items-TSB/ m-p/1881761/highlight/true#M47650   and if you are new to TSBs especially, here are some general good practices (thanks again to these ladies for posting them):   http://community.sephora.com/t5/Makeup/TSB-Best-Pr actices-for-the-BT-Community/m-p/2001133/highlight ...   (Some of these I am not as picky on, I don't care if an item was tried 1x or 4x for example, but if it's well loved that should be noted (i.e. a dip, etc.). We will use retail value for our items that are swatched or lightly used, to avoid math as much as possible - but if there is more usage we can mark things down 15-20% or more.  Feel free to ask/post pics if in doubt.  Yes!  I haven't forgotten this . I am setting up the spreadsheet still today on my day off, but here are some overall directions: Go to this link:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m_6lr eTep1zbDJ05TmTsSAMSREfs1qHHyo9Uzod2c44/edit?usp=sh aring (You can take a look now!) In short, when you get the box, you'll be able to add your IN items to the bottom of the list (with values), and mark your name next to the items you took out.   The part where you list your items is PURPLE. The part where you put your name next to the items you took is BLUE. There will also be a separate place on the right of the spreadsheet to list your total value IN and total value OUT of the box.  This section is PINK (light magenta). That being said, in an effort to get the box out ASAP, I didn't research in depth/math very deluxe sample value - so I left some DS fields open or with ??s for people to fill in values any time, or when they take them.  I did fill in the values on all my main items. Any recommendations for a mascara that'll lengthen and grow your lashes?

Sephora Sales Section- Get it Now!
If you see something awesome in the Sephora sales section, let us know. Sometimes items sell out quickly, so they get buried in other threads. Even if I check multiple times a day (and I sometimes do), you may check at a different time and find stock on items I missed (and vice versa). It seems like stock is often updated around 9am Pacific, but that is not always a given.   If you find something on sale not listed in the sales section, please list that here as well. Share your Easter Eggs with us. Thanks!

Hi! I'm thinking about picking up the Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder. I tried to use the Color IQ but I don't think this powder is on there. I wear either a 3.0 or a 4.0 in the UD Naked Skin Foundation (depending on the time of year). What shade would you recommend? Thanks!

Hey guys! Has anyone tried this? I just bought the YSL Touche Eclat sticks and I LOVE them --  I'm curious about this primer and I'm willing to pay the $52 but I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about this product. DIOR DIVA IS COMING TO AN END !
I e-mailed Dior an inquiry I had pertaining to Dior Diva and this was also included their reply:   " As of recently it has been announced that the Dior Diva Reward Program will reach it's final cycle for both United States and Canadian customers & retailers by of the end of this calendar year. All final entries must be submitted towards the program no later than December 22, 2015. Your current Dior Diva account balance, banked points and/or any additional receipts with purchases made prior to October 2015 would still be valid towards the program and redeeming rewards. However, all points must be claimed by December 22nd, 2015- as points will not carry over into the new year. You may redeem from or add to your points as you wish. When you are ready to l send in your receipts, please fill out the form (included with this email) and mail it and your accompanying receipts to our office "   It's incredibly unfortunate to see it end having only known about the loyalty program for only a few months.
