I'm in my sister's wedding in July and I'm wondering what a good foundation choice would be. It will be on the beach in Jamaica so I need it to hold up in the heat along with the usual photos etc. I've tried Nars Sheer Glow and it doesn't last for me, which is strange since my skin is only slightly oily just around my nose. I've also tried Bobbi Brown Skin but the coverage is a bit lacking. Any opinions?
I am 15 years old and I recently bought the foundation, am I too young to be wearing foundation ? Is the foundation non-comedogenic? My mom has told me that foundations can make the skin age faster, is that true ? I am worrying because the foundation is quite pricy and I'm hoping that there won't be any regrets. Also, Would it work if I were to mix it with moisturizer to turn it into a tinted moisturizer? As for additional information, My skin is quite oily (especially the T-Zone, oh boy) and have a few acne spots and pimples here and there. Thank you
I normally use a GHD but the one I had for 2 years died, and I purchased the classic flat iron. The quality wasn't there so I decided to try something new and purchased the T3 single pass. I tried it the minute I got home on dry hair with heat protector on from the morning. It made "schh" sound but honestly, I thought it was their technology.. but then my hair started smelling funny and the iron started "steaming" (this is on the lowest level of heat too) when I washed my hair the next morning, my hair was soo fried and damaged that I couldn't even comb through. I wore deep conditoning treatment for 2 hours, washed it, still the same. This morning, I put on conditioner on my entire hair... and still nothing is different.. no improvement whatsoever. If its just the ends, I would just cut it off, but its the entire outer layer of the entire length... In Korea, there is such thing called "Repair magic straightening" that I don't think reverse the damage, but mask it.. is there something similar? or is there anything I can do?
So I blindly bought this in G80 and N70 online because I can't make it to the store right now and am curious how the other deeper shades are. For reference I'm all over the place in terms of foundation shades, but I fall into the NC45 category and 2y-3y 11-12 (though it's still inaccurate). I bought 2 of them to either lighten or darken my foundation and to just match my skin completely, but I'm not sold on the results. I have strong yellow undertones but had to venture in to the N range to try out 70, and N70 isn't a perfect match for me, so I could use it to lighten foundation. G80 is better, but is a tad light (though I mixed both with argan oil so that could have added a white cast of something) Now my question is why is N90 and G70 OOS and has anyone tried out the N90 and N100 and what is it like?
I hope you guys don't mind me starting this one off early. I feel like April is my month. New job and all. So here's a new makeup item added to my sailor moon collection. So basically. That cap can be put on a pen or pencil or my eyeliner.
Hi, I recenlty recieved a sample of the 100 perk LANCÔME Advanced GÉNIFIQUE Youth Activating Concentrate and I LOVE it, and would like to purchase it, but I am also eyeing the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. I am just curious which one is better and why. VS BACKROUND INFO: I am 23 years old, I have freckles and a some acne scares. I wanted something to even out my skin tone and possible brighten it. I do have some red areas and my skin is oily/combo.
looking for a good contouring powder for asian skin - i am currently using nars contouring but i don't LOVE it (which is quite sad considering i love nars products) because i think the color is more for someone with pink undertones i prefer powders over creams, and am looking for contouring (i.e. one/more light, one/more dark) and not bronzing powder also will not wear any powders that are tested on animals
The only thing I love more than shopping is getting a great deal. I've created a website, with the same name as this thread (minus spaces and the exclamation point), to share my passion with more people. If you share here and want to keep the deal exclusive to BT viewers, just write for BT only in the post. I will heart every deal I see . If your deal does not have a heart from me, I have not seen it yet. A heart with no comment means I already had your deal on my site or am not planning on listing it (I may already have a better offer or another possible reason). Should I use your deal, I will thank you here and mention that it was "shared on BT" on my site. Thanks again to everyone who shares! If you find something full priced that is new and awesome, share it here. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Sephora-com/Spring -Summer-2015-Found-in-the-Wild-quot-New-quot/m-p/1 ...
Whenever I try to look up the ingredients of eye creams , majority of times the product will contain some form of alcohol. I'm not a skin/cream expert at all, but isn't alcohol more detrimental than beneficial for your skin , especially if you use the product religiously? Also are there any ingredients I should avoid in eye creams?
Hey Beauties- We have ALOT of threads around here for Tom Ford products. I figured I'd start one thread where we can update each other on items as they come out or we see them available. For all my UK'ers, or people willing to pay for shipping from the UK, Harrods has Softcore and Nude Dip from the Fall collection available right now. Happy Shopping!
In the spirit of all the other wonderful challenges on BT right now, I'm starting up a nail polish challenge for us. I have a ridiculous stash and I need to show my polish some love. With nail polish, once a day would be absurd (of course), so let's try and show off a new look and polish once a week. I'm personally going with manicures only, but if you'd rather do pedicures or even both go for it! I'm eager to see your collections and meet other polish junkies. It's past time for me to commit to using my stash! I have been seeing mixed reviews about this product.. Some people are saying it transfers onto clothing others say it dries up in the bottle fast... But it looks like such a fun product I want it to be great haha.. Was wondering if anyone has some experience with the product that can talk me out or preferably in to buying it.
I got the big pack of LashStash mascaras and am way excited about finding the perfect mascara that will work for me. However, so far I hate one of them (Lancome Hypnose Drama). I think for a higher end mascara it is awful. I am wondering how to go about getting a partial refund. Should I contact the mascara company itself or go into a Sephora store? UPDATE : Thank you to so many people who took my questions and posts seriously and responded kindly. It is my first thread and I am new to Sephora, the brands it sells, and this BeautyTalk community. Since this became a lengthy thread so quickly, I thought I would give a quick recap of how I resolved my issue, and save some time for people who might be in the same circumstance I was and unsure how to proceed. But before you read how I resolved the issue, I wanted you to get a picture of how I view myself as a customer. You should know that to me every $1 is 100 hard earned pennies. And if I put my money down for product, regardless of its size, I expect it to deliver. In addition to being vocal about products through word of mouth, blogging, etc., I firmly believe in communicating with those directly involved with a product's production and distribution. And through honest communication with companies about how I truly feel about their product, they almost always thank me reaching out to them (from as simple as nice thank you letter to as large as a coupon for free product). So here's what happened: I bought the $45 Sephora Favorites LashStash Deluxe 11-piece sampler (NO voucher) with the expectation that while I may not love everyone, that each one should be high-end performance-wise. I also expected to use them all up and for it to last me a LONG time (think back to my $1 meaning a lot to me). Years ago, I had previously fallen in love with They're Real and so I had something to judge the others against. The first one I tried happened to be the Lancome Hypnose Drama and it was just not delivering. So I watched some instructional videos and tried again. Still not delivering (extremely strong smelling, clumpy and made my eye lashes stick together). So the vocal side of me starts wanting to let the company know and rectify the situation (yes, I'm talking about expecting a partial refund, exchange, etc.) But I had only previously corresponded with companies who make lower-end products. So what were the rules with Sephora and Lancome? Was Lancome like Costco where they stood by what they sold so much that they would take care of everything? Or like a Supercenter where you had to contact the manufacturer? I was not sure and so decided to post my question to BeautyTalk and glean from your wealth of knowledge. So I posted and ya'll let me know that you cannot do partial returns/exchanges with Sephora--either return all the mascaras or none. But neither one appealed to me. I didn't want to give up on the others after the first failure. I also didn't want to stand idly by and just be okay with a high-end product under-performing. So I reached out again and most people agreed that contact with Lancome or both was best. I also learned that there were new Stash sets out that had a voucher with them (and was like, "that is the best deal ever" and also bummed that they didn't include one in my kit). So I first called Sephora and the phone call was very rushed but polite and at the end she basically said that she was sorry that I couldn't get voucher but would add a certain amount of points to my account. I really am not familiar with the point thing but from some of your comments, it is a way to get a free sample...cool. I still wanted to let Lancome know about my bad experience with their mascara. Lancome makes the product and is the one ultimately responsible for its formula and how it delivers, after-all. I waited for a SUPER LONG time to speak with someone, then got transferred, then dropped, and then a SUPER LONG time again. But it was so worth it. The Lancome consultant listened to everything and I asked her for tips and she documented my likes and dislikes. Then she said she would mail me a check to purchase THE EXACT SAME SERIES of mascara (to the confused commenter it was NOT a full refund of the $45) because mine was obviously defective. And I said, but the mascara was a little one, that is too much. Then she said it was a gesture of kindness and to please give the company another try and highly recommended that I purchase over a Lancome counter instead of Sephora. So, of course I said OK, sounds good to me. And I will do as agreed. Never in the conversation was I rude to the workers or demand compensation. I did expect something, but not to the degree it was given. Which only cements in my mind that Lancome (and kind of Sephora) are smart about wanting to help customers because we BUY their product with our hard-earned money. The company is entitled to make their own policy and direct their customer service to do as the company says. The same goes with the stores who sell the company's product. And the customer (that would be me and YOU) are also entitled to speak out to them and as many parties that we want. Enough said. It's time for bed.
I received a SiJCP gift card. I tried to redeem online and it wouldn't accept it. I called the Rouge line and was told they could only be used at SiJCP. I don't understand why I can't use this card online when I am able to use a regular JCP gift card online.
I was just thinking the other day, how drastically my shopping habits have changed from 10 years ago, when there weren't really many easily accessible online resources for honest beauty reviews. I had a subscription to Allure and based a lot of decisions from that. I also had Paula Begoun's (sp?) original Cosmetics Cop book and used that as a guide, but it was never relevant for very long with companies constantly introducing new products. 5-7 years ago I used blog websites (Temptalia, M&BB, Specktra) and the occasional YouTube video to assist in my shopping. Now, I'm at a point where I flat out don't trust bloggers and YTers who are sent products for review (I believe some of them are being honest but anytime you get a remotely good product for free, of course you'll think its worth it), and I only read Allure if I'm waiting at the doctor's office. I feel like they can't be trusted either, especially when they rave over products that I know are a total bomb and have been skewered on BT, in product reviews, etc. Now I mostly use customer reviews, posts here on BT, and still check up on items through the Beautypedia. I've also found Instagram to be useful, to a degree, not only to find new items coming out and looks that incorporate things I already have, but also to see what everyone is trying to unload that isn't working for them. What methods/sites do you guys use now? Or are you one of those people who just buys all the things (in which case, thanks for your reviews and IG posts, haha)?
I'm interested in the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but not sure what color to get. I've been using Christian Dior Airflash 302 or Two Faced BB Cream Glow. What would be comparable with Laura Mercier?Laura
I normally have combination skin (only oil in T-zone). This winter my skin has become extremely dry and my makeup has been flaking off and becoming blotchy after an hour or two. I have tried so many different cleansers, moisturizers, and foundations and I am still struggling. My skin is also very sensitive and some products break me out. Right now I have been using Make Up Forever HD invisible foundation which works pretty good for me. I usually use Tarte bronzer and NARS blush on top. I have been switching between using Aveda and Burt's Bee's natural moisturizers and they just work okay. Some days I use baby lotion with coco and shea on my face because I heard it will help dry skin. The baby lotion has worked best so far. Please help!! I am confused on what both skincare and makeup I should use and how often to exfolitate my face as well.
Oddly, I received an email shortly after I had commented in a post about how I wasn't that concerned about not having receiving anything free from Sephora. I noted that, although it would certainly be neat to get a free thing, I certainly was not upset about not getting any. Seriously no biggie. Then I got an email that i would be receiving a Free Thing! I don't have a big wrinkle problem (silver lining to oily skin), but at age 41 I do have a few small wrinkles I'd like to address. I just wish I could use it under my eyes!
Hi, I am really interested in the Sephora favorites bottled dreams perfume and I just wanted to know that does the voucher inside for a free full-size bottle have an expiration date? I do not live near a sephora so i'll have to wait until i can go to one to get my favorite perfume from the voucher provided inside
I'm in my 20's, and decided to start using an eye cream to help my dark circles under my eyes and help revitalize elasticity and prevent wrinkles. I have fair skin, so the sun takes a toll on the most delicate parts of my skin, and I want to start using an eye cream now to help. I've been looking at eye creams like these that Sephora recommended via the filters. http://www.sephora.com/miracle-worker-retinoid-eye -repair-cream-P377330?skuId=1482546 http://www.sephora.com/hypoallergenic-firming-eye- cream-P294204?skuId=1366814 http://www.sephora.com/bio-performance-super-corre ctive-eye-cream-P378348?skuId=1507631 http://www.sephora.com/plantscription-tm-anti-agin g-power-eye-cream-P394702?skuId=1675206 http://www.sephora.com/lift-lighten-eye-cream-P783 25?skuId=945337 Any suggestions?
I'm noticing a lot of threads lately asking about makeup tips for aging skin (I always see them for skincare). So, I decided to create a more comprehensive one so there is a reference thread. Anyone have any tips for makeup either as we age (what is age appropriate) and what works on aging skin (a liquid concealer instead of a cream one). Skin care tips are fine too but I'm mostly asking about makeup? I'll add a few. Use a foundation brush on skin still moist from your day cream to gently dot on foundation to prevent heavy cake-iness or foundation settling into lines. Use an illuminating foundation primer and a lighter foundation substitute like a high quality CC cream. Then gently use a liquid concealer and an illuminating powder like Guerlain's meteorites. Save foundation for evening. Mix a little color into your brown or taupe eye shadows to avoid looking dull. Sandwich method…dot your brush in the taupe, then in a colored shadow (depending on your coloring…blue, pink, purple, green, gold) then dot in the taupe again then apply. Adjust the amounts of different color depending on your comfort. Be careful with dark lip colors as lips thin as we age and they can look harsh. Add a little neutral gloss over lipstick. Line lips with a neutral liner, slightly outside the lip line to make lips look more lush. Anyone else have anything to add?
Hi everyone, Since there are many LE items or discontinued items that we search for, I wanted to know if there is any interest in maintaining a thread to post any unicorns we stumble upon and list where it can be found so others can try to find these items that they are looking for. I thought this might be useful as I found a few items on my trip and also found it extremely helpful when a fellow BT member posted about the availability of Tom Ford's Nude Dip on Selfridges a couple of months ago so that a few of us could finally order this LE item. I also thought that if there are LE items that people are looking for, they could PM me and I could add it to the main thread so that others would know what others may be looking for. I could update the Found Unicorns on the main post weekly. Looking for your thoughts, suggestions? This would be strictly for limited edition items and discontinued items. Please include location, date found, and price if it is selling for less or more than regular retail price. Thanks in advance! I was wondering if there was any ETA on this particular item? Also, related, I saw on the MUFE website that there are several other sizes of this palette; will they also be made available at Sephora? It really bums me out that these palettes are sold exclusively at Sephora, only online, and just in the one size which is always OOS. Some good news please? http://www.sephora.com/metal-palette-P391918?skuId =1622612
Hiiiii everyone! So I have the Naked 1 & 2 full palettes & I love them. However, I am kind of wanting more brown colors. A friend suggested Naked 2 Basics or Too Faced Natural Matte but I am trying to decide if I need them or if the first two Naked Palette's I have are good enough.... I am bad at making decisions haha! I just didn't know whether to spend the money or just stick with Naked 1 & 2. I also considered getting an eyebrow kit but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to spend the money on that either.... Just need some feedback & suggestions. Thanks so much. Bella
Every time I put on BB cream it immediately makes my skin incredibly flaky. I've even tried putting on moisturizer first or mixing the BB with some of my moisturizer and ten minutes after applying I'm a flaky mess. My moisturizer works fine and I'm not dry after applying it, it's any kind of coverage that's drying me up. Im using the Smashbox BB currently and have no idea what to do! The attached photos is after applying.
